Trac no Oliver yes, simply because Trac still has significant trade capital while Oliver doesn’t, Oliver would have to be traded out essentially for nothing due to his contract which I imagine clubs would ask us to pay a portion so not worth the effort. All of this based on the assumption we need to fast “trac” a rebuild

I suspect this was just his speculation entirely with zero evidence to back it up.

Shocked I tell you, shocked.

maybe im just an old sentimental batard but i hope Trac and Clarry (premiership players for MFC) remain until they both retire (with 4 premiership each). Kozzie can join them for as long as he wants but do hope he leaves with the dignity we gave ANB

They can form the transition leadership from Max and JAck and pass on to Langford, Lindsay, Colt and Duke who continue the premiership standard.

Its up to the coach to get the right structures, patterns and match ups to use those stars and surround them with the Rivers, Fritchs Jeffo, Lingers ,Chin, Bowey, .etc who will all participate in finals in their time at the club.

The defenders Maysie, Lever,Salem will hand on to Petty, Howes AMW, as we concentrate on a consistent structure to reduce opposition scores.

Can I please have some of the "Wacky Terbacky" u are on? And even though I don't smoke, I'm happy to give it a try!

Morris would love to see them go. For this reason alone, hope they all remain one Club Players

This will continue to be a talking point all year unfortunately, especially if we keep losing. But it's all conjecture at this point. I loved Hird's response though.

Just now, Demonsone said:

Oliver should have been traded, part of the culture issues, should go after Reid and include Oliver as part of the deal

Can we please just go after a quality player who is squeaky clean?

Zero shock factor about this. It’ll be a discussion all throughout the year.

If you could trade one and get Butters in, surely that’s a net positive?

Danger is that it might turn out a like for like.

You don't sound very old or sentimental @dpositive.

Clearly just a discussion piece but a good one to have if our results continue this way. Wouldn't trade all of them but at least one is going to need to learn a new position or be pushed out to make way for the younger brigade.

The joke is, while unlikely, but if we beat Cats at Cotton On park, they will say we are back on track and move to other clubs and issues.

As we all know, it is a click bait medium now.

I prefer if we have our downhill skiers in the MCC only, not on the field

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
