That is complete junk. By that time we will be struggling for wins, getting picks in who show promise and then request trades coz they are sick of losing? Sound familiar ? In what world is Trac worth second round picks?

3 first rounders in '25 '26 and '27.

Sorry wasnt clear.

If we dont get Flanders and say pick 6, its the closest we could hope from the Crows if he nominates them.

The West Australian reporting on trac to freo aswell, I can't see the article but surely if clubs like freo start to enquire that in itself would be entertaining enough too bring LJ back.

It will be hard for anyone not to like the Gold Coast lifestyle. Hardwick will spin the deep in finals 'true story' to come.

They need another experienced player to complement the GC youngsters. The Lions had 11 players 22 or under in the GF. A fair number guns or 'guns to be'.

Fingers crossed its GC.

I don’t mind a swim as much as the next person but the Gold Coast “lifestyle” is my idea of a vacuous, culturally-devoid hellscape.

Look I'm not here to argue that our club hasn't had multiple challenges or poorly handled issues since 2021, and I am certainly not here to take away from Trac's trauma or the severity of his injury.

But lets be for real, we are one of a small handful of clubs to have won a flag this past decade. Not only that, we are one of only two 'small' clubs to have won one, without the benefits of academy picks, bottomless salary caps, home ground advantages, the love and support of the AFL with fixturing or the MRO etc etc.

There are star players at other clubs who would give up their spleen to win one. Merrett, Cripps, the list goes on. Trac has not only achieved team success, he also achieved individual success with the support of the club.

He is also not the first player to deal with serious injuries, or worse terrible off field issues relating to mental health, the loss of a child, a terminally ill parent or partner, cancer, the list goes on.

At the end of the day, if you are a real leader, you stick it out through bad times and good. If you have no extenuating family circumstances, and you are still choosing to jump ship when the going gets tough, then it says as much about you as the club you are departing. See also Merrett, except Merrett hasn't won a flag.

The reason why we all raised an eyebrow when Trac made the comment about this being 'his job', is because we all understand that being an AFL player, let alone a star player, is not a regular job that the average joe has.

Not only has Trac achieved the ultimate success, he was also able to set up his brand, and his and his wife's future beyond footy while wearing red and blue. I don't think we have done so badly by him, and in fact many of the changes that have taken place in the last 12 months were things he expressed he wanted to see happen.

So let's not pretend like Trac wanting out for the second year in a row, is all about the club, and not in fact, mostly about him.

Post of the decade

i pulled this off theage quoting one of Trac's interviews from the start of the season:

“I understand there’s always going to be noise surrounding that, but internally, I know, my teammates know, my coaches know and the club knows that I’m a Melbourne person through and through,” Petracca said at the time. “Last year was nothing more than wanting to make this football club better and see success.”

Now he didnt have to say this, but he did. So one has to question this guys outlook on life and what things he values. When coupled with his awkward statement at the BnF, i think we are starting to get a real-life picture of him.

Reckon Petracca and his wife would much rather live on the Gold Coast than Adelaide.

Most overpopulated city in the country

Please enjoy the endless snarls

I can’t understand why golf is so expensive there given the number of coursea

Speaking as a South Australian, I'm of the opinion he'll hate the absolute football fishbowl of Adelaide. The novelty will wear off very quickly. As for GC, he's always holidaying in Noosa. Wherever he goes, I'm sure it will only be a 2-3 year plan and he'll end up back in Vic post-retirement.

He’ll love the drive via the never ending Currumbin Tugun LA style traffic snarl to get to Noosa. Please enjoy.

Yep unfortunately this is what happens once the big $$ and long contracts take over.

I'm more than happy to pay the going market price for players based on their last season or two. But to sign players beyond two or three years max usually doesn't produce their best imv and instead makes their head explode.

in some cases they probably end up thinking they're bigger than the game / club.

Most likely other mitigating circumstances at play and Tracc isn't the first player to seek the exit door but these long contracts tend to backfire alot of the time.

Well, I would be very sorry to see him leave but it does seem that he is not a true team player.

But any talk of swapping him for Soligo, or for draft picks, or with us paying one cent of his salary, really riles me. If he went to Adelaide perhaps a straight swap for Thilthorpe might - just might - be enough. But Soligo? - that would be a joke. In a relatively poor midfield he is not even their number 1 or 2.

FWIW, on the couch both Brown and Buckley think Gold Coast is a better fit as Petracca can be more damaging up forward where the Suns are a bit light on and inexperienced. And as Buckley said, Adelaide need a big-bodied mid, but they need a better kicker.

Yeah but on a personal level, that’s not his ideal position. He wants to play midfield.

Trac will no doubt release a tell-all book in a couple of years

I think we'll see what he really thinks of the club then

I suspect he could easily become accustomed to more forward time with Rowell and Anderson feeding it to him.

But I understood that what they were saying is that at the Crows Trac only has one role, midfield. But he's a more flexible player than that, which would suit the Suns better. i.e., there's more scope for him at the Suns.

His constant attempts to escape the club paint a pretty clear picture.

Their first rounders will all be 14 + in weak drafts. Likely pick 20s. For context, that means three Koltyn Tholstrups or Matt Jeffersons. If that is what you think will turn our fortunes, then I guess we aren’t in the same page

For the first time ever I would be all in on someone requesting a trade to Freo.

Welcome home Jacko.

Petracca & McVee for Dogga & pick 11.
