I havenโ€™t kept track of Jackson since left however I seem to remember his first season with Freo was ordinary. How was he last year?ย
His last year with us was bog ordinary. Is he worth chasing. My view with admittedly little knowledge of his recent form I see Kossie as way more valuable than him. ย

Made the AA squad in his first season at freo. Down form last year after starting really well but apparently spent a lot of time unsettled with whatever was going on + illness. Looks really good this pre season.

Appreciate your info. The next three weeks will tell how much we miss Kossie.

If youโ€™re making the AA squad then youโ€™re a bona fide A grader for a year or 2 after.

Jackson would be enormous for us.

He is better than nearly any key forward we have, with only JVR in the discussion.

He is a ruckman who would be great playing with Max, as we know and especially more valuable after he is gone.

He is also good around the ground and is effectively another big mid.

It's probably easier to replace Kozzie, than find a Jackson.

Hypothetically

Pretty much the same relatable dilemma that we all experience. Re: if you are with a partner who is from either interstate or abroad.

Hypothetically if she gets the 9 month warning bell do you

a) Stay in the present location and live the family life on good coinย

b)ย  Move away from the fella's primary source of income to be with maternal side and have more of a family life without the man

c) Move away from the primary source of income, and thenย  get a bigger and longer guaranteed income for he and she, have family close by and play on the G every second week if not more.

Now both clubs must wait until the bogan gender reveal to see if the balloons are purple / white or red / blue

I must add to point c. Moving to a club where he is a 23 year old premiership legend and a supporter base that love him. With a future after football of freedom and coin.

That sounds awesome

Slight diversion: Which other players have left us and subsequently returned after playing with another AFL (or VFL) club? Carl Ditterich is one I can think of. I recall Gary Hardeman left and then returned, but I don't think he was at another VFL team in between. Anyone else?

Quite a few I wished returned.ย

The romance will be over by July and he will have no reason to leave WA. Talk about 1+1 =3.ย

From what I have heard secondary from inside the purple is that this is seriously in play. Unfortunately so is Koz.ย

I can confirm from inside the red and blue, secondary source, Koz has spoken to the club about his intentions to move out west at years end.ย

I wonder if Jackson is on St Kildas radar.ย  They seem desperate to land a big fish and from the dollars they have reportedly thrown around, we won't be abe to compete against them.

ย

You'd think any fair trade for Jackson back to Victoria definetaly opens up the door for us to get a good trade for Kozzy, however, will Freos trade targets need to change if they lose Jackson?ย

Doesn't mean we automatically agree though does it. Anymore than Freo automatically agree to Jackson.ย

I wouldnโ€™t think they would change, primarily because they still have a highly touted ruckman (Darcy) and a serviceable back up (Reidy) on their listย

I would think that ifย Jackson wanted out and ifย Freo agreed to trade him, it would be a tacit admission that their two ruck strategy was/is a failureย

The club can do what they did with Petracca and Oliver and say no. Unless they get decent compensation.ย

He might want to go, but unless we get a deal we like then we hold him to his contract. We let Neal-Bullen go, but that never played out in the media. I reckon we do a swap for Jackson or then 3 first round picks and they need to be like Bolton's picks not 16,17 & 18.

If we get well compensated, then he can begrudgingly go.

Otherwise he can see out his contract thank you very much.

Big call and canโ€™t really argue as he is super skilled and has the flag. Jeff Farmer in conversation though.

Absolutely the wizard and Aaron Dave were excellent. Kozzie is on another plane.

I wracked my memories of the 70's and 80's.

Some good ones like Ricky Jackson came to mind. But none really came to mind.

The bar kozzie set in the 2021 prelim is our gold standard. Plus his chase down first quarter of flag gf was priceless.

The worst one for me was losing Scott Thompson. That was a massive 12 year kick in the nuts.ย

No way Kozzie has the Wiz covered.

I think anyone is. Not sure a tall is what theyโ€™re after though.

Love the idea of the great man coming home but 2/3 first rounders that StK would pay for Jackson would probably be a wiser choice for us long term.

All l can think of is Don Williams, who went to play for Sale, returning in time for '64 premiership.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kateโ€™s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwoodโ€™s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isnโ€™t a standard conceptโ€”itโ€™s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking. ย We filled our boots with percentage โ€” now a whopping 520.7% โ€” and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourneโ€™s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasnโ€™t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's ย six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his teamโ€™s unfulfilled potential rang true โ€ฆ well, almost.ย
