to be perfectly honest, anything over 50k is a 'win' for mfc - our standard attendance is 25k or thereabouts; our membership-to-attendee # remains quite strong

the notion that we are a big or even a mid-sized club is a misnomer; we're clearly not - we're always around about par with the aints, and barely ahead of footscray and north, purely from a membership perspective

at our most successful, post-premiership, we achieved around 70k members - at our lowest ebb, a bit over a decade ago, we were around half that i seem to recall

now, admittedly, memberships for all clubs have 'grown' since the mid 00s, but memberships are a 'nice' thing for the club not something that actually effects the day to day of what is happening from an afl-wide or an organisational standpoint; from head office's pov the only thing that matters is that broadcast revenue (from the saudi pif via dazn now) and wagering revenue (from a myriad of gambling agencies) continues to rise
