Main point is no doubt we would have been selling the age demographic of Windsor, Langford, Lindsay maybe even JVR all peaking at the same time as Judd McVee yet he still left.

He was a rookie we plucked out and pity he didn't want to repay the faith more but it's gonna happen.

Well, you’ve been a Demonlander for quite a few years and quite likely a ‘lurker’ more than a ‘poster’, so I’d say there’s a good chance you knew that Ghostwriter was female… and even if I’m wrong with that, you most certainly knew Ghostwriter's gender before you made your “must be a gal thing”, so there was no mistaking who that comment was directed at.

i didnt know she was a female. Do now with the gal gang turning it into a gender thing. Thats why i wrote the gal comment. Tell me its not true. A normal bloke talking to a player occasionally at training would say, do and so is a goid bloke. Some here think they have special relationships with players. as said Egos and deluded. Take it as you like.

Can’t be bothered driving to Casey, just like the rest of the team… can we do it closer?

I think if you go to your local ground and desecrate a goal post that will count. They’ll get the message.

Brownlow votes because he’s a high possession player. He did have a few great games, was mostly ok but he has a few stinkers as well and generally just looked pretty close to the end. Multiple things can be true at once.

I don’t care for his disposal efficiency when he didn’t make a risky choice all year

Very well put. Apart from 3 or 4 games Judd was mostly poor & rarely attacked or took a risk.

Should have been dropped.

Cost us the Port game when Rankine cut him to pieces.

Good riddance.

One only has to look at the Brisbane side to see how role players are key to winning. Judd is a role player. He can be replaced

We want something decent for him so Freo can pay up or we should walk him to West Coast.

I hope our club grows some cojones with its trading - we have been way too pleasant to deal with in the past.

My god talk about playing the blame game geez, peeps settle down

Who cares if @Ghostwriter was told something and relayed it to us. She can’t help what she is told ended up being wrong my god get a grip, thats life.

I personally like when posters let us know what they are told or have heard but things and situations can change. It’s been known to happen

Bloody hell relax.

Wow! What a surprise! The dazzling one is gloating. Going to the trouble of trawling through previous posts to quote me. Would’ve been quicker and easier to just say “nya nya nya you were wrong.” which is the sentiment here. You really are a spiteful person. Step back and take a good look at yourself and you’ll see how childish you are.

In your haste to deflect and defend, you have completely misread what dazzledavey36 wrote in his post. Not to mention the name calling and tone of aggression

I still think it is possible he signed the contract, but the Manager didn't and kept it and then shopped him around and maybe didn't even tell him of a Freo offer until recently.

That is an entirely possible scenario.

Freo may have even told his Manager don't commit him to the Dees, until we can frame an offer at the end of the season, who knows.

Judd is not necessarily lying, that is what I am saying.

Why lie to King allegedly a few days ago and then need him and the club to clear him, with bad blood created? That sounds strange.

Was close to signing cause he was

I'll go against the emotional trend so far on this thread - and trying to put a bit of my zen buddhism perspective forward, whilst being disappointed.

Some people feel like Judd has betrayed them personally, or even betrayed the club and taken that personally. To me, whats really happening here is that he is a young bloke making a decision about his life, his future, and where he feels he belongs. That doesn’t make the connection he built with the group or with the fans any less real at the time. It just means life moved, and he’s following that shift.

Judd gave us his effort and his growth in red and blue — that can be honoured without clinging to him now. For me, this isn’t about loyalty or disloyalty. Thank him for the chapter and trust that both he and Melbourne will find their way forward.

Howes is 100% a lockdown def, as is Salem. Salem's 1v1 work is very, very good. But pace obviously an issue.

I like the idea of Salem going deeper in def and putting Lindsey one the HBF where he played a lot int the TAC cup.

It is a position we can cover the easiest on our list, besides inside Mids.

Salem was suppose to be lock this year, obviously the club didn't trust him with his pace,so when McVee came back from injury, the roles changed, the dockers have obviously seen something they like to go after the kid

Redlegs conjecture about Judd possibly having signed but his manager sat on it is interesting. Would I be naive to think that is a possibility, or would I be naive to think that is impossible?

Schroedinger's dilemma 🤔

My take Redlegs suggestion whilst plausible is highly improbable. Im not thinking players managers play hide and seek so much.

So in lieu of Schroedinger I opt for Occam.

The simple reality that he fibbed to those he thought or felt he had to in order to progress his chosen path seems far more likely.

We're not talking Gorky Park here.... just the G and environs.

I’m sick of all these players wanting to go home. It’s unfair and the AFL need to do something about it.

Let me think. They should create an academy system where you can develop local talent and if they are good, you get to have priority access to them.

Sorry, has that already been done?

Sorry who’s that for? Lions, Suns, Giants, Swans. Are they struggling clubs?

Oh, Lions … the back to back premiers!! Swans. Runners up in 2024. Giants, Suns, Lions. Three of them were in 2025 finals. Wow that system sounds like a big winner. 🤣🤣🤣😭😭😭

I’ll throw Geelong in here as well and it’s not talked about. They have a defacto academy in that they are the only Victorian club that has a Coates League team exclusively in their region in the Geelong Falcons. When draftees from the Falcons get drafted into the system and hit free agency what club do they nominate that they want to go play for. You wonder why they don’t bottom out.

charming. I’ve been here long enough to know which posters have serious problems and tend to pick on female posters. It’s very obvious.

You don’t think the post referring to it being a “gal thing” to feel betrayed by a player is misogynistic?

It’s fine not to agree, but the absolute garbage that Ghosty cops compared to others who post information and rumours, is very very obvious.

I love everyone who comes here with info. Hell I’m here for the riddler at trade time. But if one poster gets so much vitriol thrown at them, and the only difference between said poster and others is her gender, then I think it’s fair to say that there is a level of misogyny going on.

Especially when said poster contributes so positively not only to Demonland but the club itself!

As one of the first and few female posters on here, it’s very disheartening to see some of the rubbish written towards her.

This post is so accurate that I knew exactly the posters you referenced.

Disappointing it looks like he might be going.

That said, whilst I agree his best position is a half back that pushes up the ground I'm not a big fan of the 'i want to play more in x role' seemingly being part of his rationale for staying and leaving.

For one thing circumstances, in particular AMW going down, meant that wasn't the best thing for the team last season. So shut it.

But leaving that aside it just screams me, me, me. Someone who is 100% team first doesn't make it a thing.

And besides, that position is no picnic, and given there is usually only one such player, two tops, in any team that player has to excel.

Now, he may well have done so at the dees, he has the tools, but it's not as if he has runs on the board in that role to back up his confidence or make demands of the club.

And I'll be fascinated, assuming he actually gets to Freo, if he even gets an opportunity to play that role as Freo have more options than us.

Thanks..seems strange to me we were only prepared to offer 2 years (if this is true) maybe we had him in mind as trade bait to satisfy another need?

Can someone explain how Judd has taken the MFC for a ride? He's made a decision to leave before the trade period, so it's not like he's nominating for the PSD. It makes me laugh that posters think he should be open to go to either WA club so that we get the best deal.

And don't get me started on posters who believe that they were lied to. I don't believe for one minute that a player would tell a supporter that they had signed before any official announcement had been made. And the longer a player holds off signing, the more likely they are to leave.

Judd's decision to leave has nothing to do with King or the role he wants to play. Freo have probably offered a bigger contract, or Judd is sick of being pestered by annoying supporters, lol.

Good on you. Some of your best friends are female. (Where have i heard something similar before?) But your saying

"I have...happy life thats not dependant on what private conversations I have with young professional football players and then act like they are a love rat"

is simply beyond rude. Totally unacceptable. I think you will find you have trashed your own reputation with many of us.

Where are Demonland standards - some posters would get suspended for the above comments.

Should be making a call to Caleb Serong this afternoon saying that he has a $2mil a year contract waiting if he joins as a free agent in 2028. With Essendon being such a basket case I think Freo now might be my most hated team. Put the squeeze on their salary cap whatever way possible.

  • AFLW REPORT: Gold Coast

The forecast said wind. The ladder said mismatch. The scoreboard said obliteration. Melbourne didn’t just beat Gold Coast — they dismantled them: 13.15 (93) to 0.6 (6). An 87-point obliteration, the Suns held goalless, and the Demons delivering their second-highest winning margin and third-highest score in AFLW history.

It was a tough ask for him to break through as a 199cm ruckman in the shadow of an all-time great in that position who is also the club captain. He had some good days at Casey but was unable to progress and was delisted at the end of the season.

The 33-year-old Campbell has yet to play AFL football for Melbourne, but his Casey form has been strong and he has been retained as a ready-made ruck depth option who is widely regarded as someone who is excellent for the culture of the club.

The Demons acquired an interesting player in Sharp, who narrowly missed securing a spot in the Lions’ premiership team last year. The 22-year-old medium forward played in the opening round this season and ended up with 18 senior games, although he was substituted in or out in for ten of those matches. He demonstrated glimpses of form, but ultimately ended the year on the margins of the team.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Gold Coast

On Friday, the Demons return to our Casey Fields fortress where they have a 77% win rate. The scent of September is in the air and the struggling Suns are on the horizon. The Cranbourne weather forecast? Ominous, like the match itself: a strong chance of carnage. Let’s be honest, last week’s first half against the West Coast was a training drill but we dropped our guard in the final quarter. While this match is a mismatch on paper — second versus seventeenth — football is won in the wind, the contests, and the moments.
