Report from Ghostwriter went to Gosch’s this morning and sent me this report…

1st - 4th year players today. Some seniors chose to attend: Viney, Salo, Fritta, Tmac, HP35.

The vibe was amazing. The sunshine and lack of wind made it even better. They all look great; trim and toned and not one of them is out of shape. You thought Vines couldn’t possibly get any musclier? Think again. Good luck trying to tackle him, oppo chumps, see you in the broken bones ward at the Royal Melbourne!

Nathan Basset already commanding much respect from the boys as well as Goody and Chocco. Very professional.

Troy Chaplin confident and decisive when addressing his charges.

Idk if Tom Campbell is any good at footying but believe me, he’s a lovely person. It’s no wonder he and BBB are besties, carbon copy right there.

Chin Chandler rocking a dramatic buzzcut. First reaction: WTF?! Immediately followed by It actually looks good.

No easing into training this preseason. No siree Bob. Straight into serious, physical drills. A lot of practice at baulking a couple of players while running into open goal. Leb puts the “Win” in “Windsor.”
He absolutely nailed it.

Woey junior super impressive when tackling, the boy simply does not let up. Brings one to ground, springs back up and takes down another one. So good to see.

Jed Adams was wearing #19 (shack attack’s body isn’t even cold yet) but it’s probably only because he didn’t have a clean #26.

Ollie Sestan looks great. Clearly hasn’t missed a single day in the gym. Seems super confident when talking about a potential debut in the offing.

Jeffo also appears way more confident compared to last season. Not afraid to go in hard. Seems more agile as well. Still needs to straighten tf up but the Quasimodo is no longer as prominent.

A slightly deranged regular was there. She gave Goody a big ‘ol bear hug and told him she’s so happy now that all that shhiitt is behind him after years of having to listen to the nasty allegations and that she’s even happier that he’s still our coach. He genuinely appreciated her sentiment then went on to praise the Demon Army. Love that guy.

Chocco the complete opposite. He showed the slightly deranged one a video he took at Ikon during the last W H&A match. He took it from above and behind the cheer squad and said the CS is too noisy and raucous and extremely annoying, in particular the slightly deranged one and that next time he’s gonna bring a bottle of water to tip on her head. She told him to GAGF. 🤣

‘Til next time, Kat. Lotsa love, your friend xxx

Send my regards to Ghostwriter please

I'm down from Tamworth until Friday morning - does anyone know if they will be at Gosch's on Wednesday by any chance, and if so, at what time?

Looking very good. Excellent to see Goodwin looking a little happier

Chunk & Bassett will be great acquisitions to the Club

A lot of work has been done inside the Club over the last 2 months

I managed to stop in for a little look, but i am not great at training reports so i will do my best.

  • I know it's very early but the entire vibe of the club felt much more lighthearted, fun and energetic than i can remember it being since maybe 2021

Wait till The Brand gets back!

Well that just ruined my recent-weeks Dees buzz.

It may be nothing to worry about.

Neither player were "meant" to be there as today was for years 1 - 4 players.

Some, but certainly not all, of the more senior players also turned up for a run.

The Dalai Lama said of today's training:

"In order to carry a positive action we must develop here a positive vision"

and

"Old friends go, new friends appear. It is just like the days. An old day passes, a new day arrives. The important thing is to make it meaningful: a meaningful friend - or a meaningful day.

I once phoned up said spiritual leader of Tibet and he sent me a large goat with a long neck.

Turns out I'd called "Dial-A-Llama" by mistake.

Not yet @Ugottobekidding. But I'm reliably informed that Tony Lockett has returned fitter than he's even been.

Well, yours still ran ahead of mine from the Melbourne Cup. I might have to look up glue factories.

Forgot to mention Marty Hore.

He was looking good and working hard on his fitness, leading in some of the group runs. Would imagine he is going to do all he can to give himself a chance to play or at least be ready if he gets a call up to the main team.

JVR looked quite lackadaisical in that clip - very slow.  Needs to quicken up a lot. 🙄🤗

I'm interested if their 20-40 metre passes are low and hard and kicking over someone in between those metres quickly..

The kicking drills ran by Choco were quite extensively and the first after the warm-up.

15 meters apart and in pairs they kick right and left foot. Then variations occur. Spin (360°) to the left, kick, spin again to the right, kick, place the ball on the ground, pick up and kick, place the ball behind, spin and kick. Repeat at 30 meters. At one stage they included two balls, but only one kicking over the top as the other ball is handballed flat.

The next kicking drill was more complicated. They had six starting positions. Three on two lines. The middle group in bibs, attempted to intercept the passes, by those in the outside lines. The outside lines would pass to the other line, down the line, or diagonal. I think they had a system going so it wasn't haphazard. It created a variety of kicks.

Choco empathises that he wants the ball to spin well, and for sharp, direct actions. I think he will create even more drills with a variety of difficulty and skills.

Ahhhhh a training report..... that can only mean that the real thing is a step closer.

Great to see Jeffo a lot bigger and stronger, I have a good feeling about him going forward. He has a lot of natural ability and he just needs to get his body right.

I feel like he needs a few chiropractic adjustments to straighten his back up, it doesn't look right. Surely the club is suggesting he see a medical professional to help his posture because no doubt it would benefit his footy. It's definitely something you can reverse with the proper treatment.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
