Those mugs wouldn't know how to stack the number of hay bales they cut, without trying to under count.

Have the cats crossed Clarry’s name off the board?

Good question. Matt Rowell is similar kind of player to Clarry, I can’t see them both playing in the same side.

I can. The Cats are the only club in the AFL that don’t have a salary cap.

Rowell is closer to Viney than he is Sir Clayton

Yeah good call. I thought he was a bit bigger.

I actually think it's about time for the AFL to introduce anti-tampering rules similar to the NBA and NFL to stop this [censored] of meeting contracted players to convince them to join and stop media speculation/agenda ro get players to certain clubs. It's just garbage currently allowing the status quo to remain as is.

The whole system needs a major disruptor to happen - ie gold coast openly meeting and courting nick daicos to show that's a debacle currently

Same here. Surprised to read he’s only 180cm. The Cats have their hearts set on a ginger.

Got to get in ahead of Tasmania with the 'think of the savings on sunscreen' pitch.

Geelong's salary cap must be [redacted] [redacted] than a [censored]'s [censored]. Bunch of grubby cheats.

I think Geelongs interest in Oliver was more about trying to buy cheap. Moneyball.

I'm glad we held out with both Trac and Clayton (obviously) as given the situation we would have been lowballed for sure.

I don't think either will go now at the end of this year, but if they do we should get reasonable compensation. This also makes me less nervous about any Kozzie trade. We have shown we won't be bent over when a contracted player aks for out. By the time these contracts run out there is no doubt circumstances will be quite different and there is every chance the player will be happier to continue with us.

Also I thought the club handled the Neil Bullen trade with a lot of class. Against what many in the media would have us believe I think we've had a great off season, given we have moved on our former President and CEO. To have all the upheaval dealt with before Christmas and move into the New Year with a stable club was no mean feat.

I say well done MFC.

Agree most definitely.

Great work Brad and Co.

Thats cus they've moved on from Clarry to Rowell mate, spot-on. Clubs know the chance to get Clarry was LY -- Once we knocked it on its head they'd of moved onto next target fairly fast, he was only appealing due to perceived 'bargain' price if we did deem it bets to move him on, thankfully we didn't!

Didn't see this -- absolutely spot-on, was only as the perceived price IF we did ant the saga to end there and then was insanely good and would've (from cats perspective) potentially even had us paying some salary etc so now that he is fit and firing the likelihood of him being available at the low price is even less moving fwd. The hope was that we were 'done' with the drama and wanted to get another pick in LY Draft knowing we loved its depth etc, it was a cheeky 'lets see' and my frustration was that morins in media tried to sell it as being viable option for us which is idiotic and farcical but that is what they do...

Clarry to Cats is well and truly dead in water atm, just like a Trac trade request is.. More to play out obviously but I cannot see us being in sellers market at end-of-year barring a disaster and even then it'd be a limited chance at best. Trac scuttlebutt came about from (allegedly - this is only what I have heard from ppl who know parties involved as well as my own battles on X msngr with Morris himself, it is only a version not fact obv) Bella's profession & knowing ppl in the US sports arena where its all about branding & trade requests aren't a big deal etc amplified by the hurt of the Trac inj etc the nature of how serious it wound up being etc pushed things to be said and explored that likely otherwise never would have, but things are in a diff spot right now & it'd have to be a really significant further breakdown for things to redevelop back into that mindset so whilst it is always a chance for any player, I like to blv its a situation that is buried for good! Morris was getting his info from that side, mgmt etc and kept pushing the narrative based on that info. Otherwise we'd likely never heard much of it at all!

Looking fwd to a fruitful 2025 where all this dissipates into anecdotal sidenotes only and the whole saga can be out behind us!

Did folks watch AFL 360 tonight? haven’t watched in years but there was a great interview with Clarry where he owns up to his issues and talks about being put up for trade.

Apologies if already in another thread

Ill post a link when they upload it to youtube.

Really positive for Clarry and the coming season

Yep saw it. I wonder if it gets equal coverage as a positive story than it did the other way round.

Must be fake. People on Demonland told me Clarry was never considered for a trade and it was just a media beat up.

let it go Koz

I feel by mid season the league might be standing back in awe of this guy. It's no mean feet coming back from where he's been. I hope he gets the accolades he deserves. Hats off. Let's hope JUH can find some inspiration and make his way back. It's a long road.

He said he's building every week but not fully back to his best.  If 28 and 3 with 11 clearances is 'building' then I'm looking forward to seeing him back to his best.

There was a brief 7sports update last night where it reported Oliver attibuted Brad Green for mending his relationships with the club. Haven't really looked around for it as it was very brief update during ads. Anyway, was a positive story nonetheless.

Yeah it was a good watch!

As an aside, how much better is AFL 360 now that ranting buffoon Robbo is gone!  👍

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
