Will this cost us the ANB pick or a third rounder?

I reckon a third rounder gets it done - the Lions sound like theyโ€™re being reasonable and wonโ€™t stand in his way (take note GWS)

Elite runner.
A few years in the system.
Emergency in a grand final team.

Ticks a few boxes. ย
ย

Thereโ€™s a knock on some of his kicking, that was the big knock on Langdon coming in too.

SEN just interviewed their footy manager Danny Daly.

He confirmed that we've shown heavy interest in Sharp and gave the impression that they won't stand in his way unlike another club I can think of.

Fair possibility he'll be with us next year.

Sure we have Langdon and Windsor already but there's no guarantee they'll be fit for all 23 games. You need depth at every position.

Many bemoaned the loss of Jordon and Harmes, it's about time we recovered some depth.

He's still young but has 4 years in the system so physically he should be ready to play AFL footy, if not, at least he improves Casey.

Victorian too so who knows if being back home might help.

Could see us giving up a combination of our current late picks - 49, 54 and 65 - picks we're not going to use, but gives the Lions points (maybe even with a future 3rd/4th coming back to us for White points next year). They won't be using any of these, just matching Ashcroft and Marshall bids. Probably why they are happy for Sharp and Dev Robertson move as well, they are being replaced instantly.ย ย

Havenโ€™t seen him play but going off what others have said and his RMC profile it looks like a smart bit of business.ย
I have been critical of our trading over the past few years and particularly Tim Lamb, but Iโ€™m happy with our moneyball approach to trading this year. Both Sharp and Derksen( if GWS play ball) would fill and need, have upside and cost bugger all leaving our main chips for the draft, given our current situation I think itโ€™s a very good approach.ย

I reckon this is a good call from us. I think the foundations are there with Sharp for him to make it as a quality wing/half-forward.ย

A risk worth taking IMO.

Good pick up, he isn't worth anything in terms of trade, Brisbane had 7 plus injuries all year this year and he could only manage 6 games, 3 as sub.

We need these players as depth with the possibility of breaking into the side permanently, but don't think he is walking straight into the team.ย ย

Smart move to target him. Right age profile and has upside. I could see Sharp being in our best 23 quite easily. With his endurance, he could be used as a forward tagger to lockdown opposition's most damaging half back. For a pick in the 40's, it's good value.

Feels like a low cost Nibbler replacement who can run all day and allow our onballers more bench rotations. Ed Langdon 2.0

Drafted pick 43 in 2020. 4 years in the system for 16 games. Can't be worth much and will come to us as depth. Pick 54 seems about right. 65 for Derksen.ย

He was pick 43 in the 2020 draft on the brissy website. We lost Jordan and got pick 39 from Sydney for him. So figure it will be around this mark or as articles say a combination of later picks.ย

ย

ANB played as an extra mid, massive tank just ran up and back all day.ย  Sounds like this guy is the same.

We should offer 28, 40, 49 to Brisbane for Sharp and pick 20.

It also gives us potential to try Windsor in other roles like half back with some midfield bursts.

  • Thank You Simon Goodwin

As Demon fans, weโ€™ve ridden a rollercoaster of emotions over the decades; the heartbreaks, the near misses, the wooden spoons, and the endless waiting. But through it all, we clung to hope. And then came Simon Goodwin. Before he ever wore red and blue, he was a champion in his own right. A five-time All-Australian, two-time Best and Fairest, and two-time premiership hero and Captain with Adelaide, Simon Goodwin was always destined to lead. When he transitioned from the field to the coach's box, first as an assistant at Essendon, he began shaping a new legacy.
