BDA 23,048 Posted September 16, 2024 Posted September 16, 2024 he made a mistake and is paying the price. Pity. He was our best player against Carlton in the semi last year. slotted his goals when everyone else was spraying left and right. 4 1 Quote

BW511 2,730 Posted September 16, 2024 Posted September 16, 2024 Would be a tough pill to swallow, pardon the pun, to be doing what he did with his teammates and being the only one to lose his career. Don’t have a lot of sympathy for him but no doubt he’s a scapegoat Quote

I know he made a really silly decision, but he’s lost everything he’s ever worked for as a result. I wish him only the best in the future. Treated disgracefully when compared to others who did the same. Lost his AFL career over taking a recreational drug, 3 days before a game day, when many others just played the system. 4 1 1 Quote

(Assuming he's guilty and if he's not then he's been unfairly penalized). I get that there could be a police investigation but that could be a separate process. 3 Quote

And a disgrace that what should have been a 6 week investigation has gone on for years. People would not believe the laziness & incompetence in various federal investigation organisations. 7 Quote

Whispering_Jack 31,368 Posted September 16, 2024 Posted September 16, 2024 I’ve said elsewhere this is an unfortunate situation for such a young person. That is not to condone what is alleged but please respect the fact that in terms of the investigation, there is no outcome at this point in time. Let’s please confine the discussion to the football aspect of the club’s apparent decision to not extend Joel’s contract when it expires. 2 Quote

Who said that clubs should necessarily consider a player’s footy ability alone when giving out contracts. There are other issues involved such as age, type of player, fitness and future availability. It sucks that the investigation has taken so long but how do you expect a club to offer a player a contract in his unfortunate situation? Quote
