If you think there's no advantage playing all year as a 19 year old compared to an 18 year old it tells me all I need to know.

I like objectivity. I appreciate it's not common on this site.

Arguing petty points on here is common though, I should know.

One kid might be 18 and 11months, the next 19 and 2 months. makes little difference

He played his first game at 19yo and 1 day. Lindsay 5 months younger. again. little difference

Langford is going to be a superstar. This idea about being 18 or 19 in debut season is ridiculous. Zorko didn't get drafted until he was 23 and played his 300th game last week.

I agree with the posters who have said Xavier Lyndsay goes harder at the footy than Langford. That was completely unexpected from me.

Except Fyfe did not have the elite kicking Harvey does.

So you agree with me and disagree with me. Both comments were from me.

That said, I merely pointed out that Langford might have finished the year well, because he was 19 all year.

The poster I quoted called him an ''18 year old''. A little amusing, as he never stepped on the field as an 18 year old.

Facts, nuance, and many other things, escape the emotional airheads on here.

A bit rich to criticise people for not understanding nuance, and presumably questioning their ability to engage in reasoned discourse, whilst also throwing out puerile, childish insults.

Ironic on a couple of levels too.

One, being so clearly triggered by Engorged Onion's well reasoned, nuanced rebuttal of your argument about Langford's age.

Secondly, your choice of insult is hilariously ironic.

Emotional airheads?

I mean needing to default to insults is the very definition of allowing emotion to trump reason.

Can we all just enjoy having Harvey Langford?

I think 99% of us here in Demonland agree he is a star in the making. All things considered, and if his career is not hampered by any external issues, his ceiling is top 10 player in the league.

There’s no way this popularity contest would go to Langford. Who cares about this award anyway, the winner almost always fails to reach the heights that one envisages.

Having said that Reid would be a deserving winner has had a huge impact despite Langford being the hisgest rated first year player on record. How Curtain is even eligible is beyond me.

i presume murphy is the favourite?

You are showing your lack of knowedge and recognition of a potentially good/ great key position player for Adelaide who who’ll also be useful for a running mid at times. He is a very good left foot distributor to his teammates. He has size and pace for his height and is a good disposer. If you can’t see that you are biased or aren’t a good footy judge.

BT W I am nit saying he is better than Harvey Langford as he will be a key position player most likely with ability to play on ball at times .

What now what said that I apologize it is co not you that I was referring to it’s GS 1905 who is showing a complete lack of judgement IMO on Dan Curtain’s ability. Sorry again .

If a team can get the next 10 Rising Stars and Brownlow medallists but barely make finals in that time who cares? All that matters is outscoring one's opponent hence winning more games hence finishing higher on the ladder etc etc and winning flags NOT any of these bloody awards.

Murphy Reid is a worthy winner but I would have had Langford ahead of Curtin and Ashcroft. I think his consistency and impact covers both and that's before you take into account the data. I sometimes think too much credibility is given to those who hold their spot in a finals side.

Its easier to perform in a good team too.

Think the Bison will have a great career, same for anyone in that top 5 though.

Was Archie Roberts still not to make the 5? Either way enjoyed the Essendon tears

Hell. I want him to be the next Harvey Langford and I suspect he will.

Fabulous consistent debut season.

Premierships 🏆 (and Nirm Smiths coupled with it) mean more than any of these named awards.

✔️ - just do it.

The Rising star is such a funny award, Murphy Reid has had a great year, but i really like the 2 we took, i am really excited to see what Lindsay and Langford can do with a full pre-season behind them

  • REPORT: Carlton

The text messages started flooding in shortly after quarter time. One read: “Is Melbourne even at the ground?” Moments later, as Carlton’s Elijah Hollands kicked the first goal of the second term, the Blues held a commanding 43-point lead. By then, the Demons’ only score was a behind kicked by Brody Mihocek nearly five minutes into the game. Ironically, Mihocek would also register the last minor score of the day after the game took a dramatic turnaround.
