So we were in the top 4 race with six weeks left, we were in the finals race until about a fortnight ago, and somehow we end up with pick 5. All it took was for us to blow a meaningless game and a couple more results to go our way. Jack Higgins may have single handedly revived us! You beauty. And we get some delicious Blues tears for dessert. Great finish to the year!

So we just finished 14th.

To be honest, I hate seeing us that low on the ladder.

But if you’re going to have a down year (and let’s hope it’s just one year down), may as well make it as bad as possible. Getting pick 5 after being in the finals race with 3-4 games to play has its upside.

Best ending to a game this season!

We might have missed finals but it's great to see Collingwood, Essendon and (hopefully) Carlton sharing the pain.

Reminds me of a few years ago when we had to beat Collingwood in the final game to make the 8 (we lost) but still had a chance if West Coast won after us (they lost).

As good as it gets. Now Freo to draw with a kick after the siren.

Now that would be orgasmic.

Hahahah. That is all.

And The filth ended ninth.

Perfect ending.

I just don’t reckon the Dees would have fought that hard if we were in the Saints place. Very impressive given nothing but pride on the line.

There was that last round game in 2020 was it? Where we put everything on the line and we were all super proud of the ‘new Dees’, but we so often capitulate in those kind of games…

Higgins goal very much like Kossie in Round 22 2022. Even better was it happened to Carlton again in Round 23.

Welcome to demonland pick 5

Suns do the business

Ditto Saints.

Our inability to hit a target inside 50 does the rest.

Hello pick 5.

Pick 5 changes the Houston dynamic from our perspective.

That's a high pick in what is apparently a strong top 10 or so in the draft (though how often do they some variation of that).

Not sure.
Might have to ask my mates who go for Ess, Carl, Tiges etc.
Specialists in fighting over position 9-18. (After being in finals contention)

Picked the blues but barracking for sainters.  I remember last year they were losing all game you heard nothing we panicked in the last two minutes   Gifted them the game and they celebrate as if they were champions all blooody day

Stuff them as hard as possible

Let's see them winge about bad frees now.

Cripps always does and gets away with it.
Maybe they will retrospectively review the score review 🤗

So PICK 5.  You do not trade pick 5 unless it’s for another or two first round picks

uou pick a player !

Best possible result today:
Saints, to win a nailbiter.

Freo and Port to draw 🤣

👿Now for the second part of my evil plan😈

I'm surprised a Carlton player didn't claim they touched it

Interesting that the commentators who made such a fuss about the free kick count when it favoured st Kilda said nothing when it was almost even at the end. Even BT’s arithmetic skills would show there must have been a similar ‘bias’ to make it even at the end

As it first came off the boot, I really thought it wouldn't make the distance

Actually, the only thing better than that result would’ve been:
Saints, to win by 150 points (roughly),

Putting the filth into pos 8 (briefly)

Then

Freo and Port to draw 😈😈

We'd have lost by 10 goals

OH WHEN THE SAINTS!!

Firstly I'd like to thank trusty Kayo. Was watching on 20 minute delay and was at that last boundary throw in with 30 seconds left and then it suddenly flashed forward to 5 mins after the game. Like having an orgasm stolen.

Freo no guarantee. it would be typical of them to let everyone down

  • PREVIEW: Geelong

"It's officially time for some alarm bells. I'm concerned about the lack of impact from their best players." This comment about one of the teams contesting this Friday night’s game came earlier in the week from a so-called expert radio commentator by the name of Kane Cornes. He wasn’t referring to the Melbourne Football Club but rather, this week’s home side, Geelong. The Cats are purring along with 1 win and 2 defeats and a percentage of 126.2 (courtesy of a big win at GMHBA Stadium in Round 1 vs Fremantle) which is one win more than Melbourne and double the percentage so I guess that, in the case of the Demons, its not just alarm bells, but distress signals. But don’t rely on me. Listen to Cornes who said this week about Melbourne:- “They can’t run. If you can’t run at speed and get out of the contest then you’re in trouble.

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit.
Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

For a brief period of time in the early afternoon of yesterday, the Casey Demons occupied top place on the Smithy’s VFL table. This was only made possible by virtue of the fact that the team was the only one in this crazy competition to have played twice and it’s 1½ wins gave it an unassailable lead on the other 20 teams, some of who had yet to play a game.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

In my all-time nightmare game, the team is so ill-disciplined that it concedes its first two goals with the courtesy of not one, but two, fifty metre penalties while opening its own scoring with four behinds in a row and losing a talented youngster with good decision-making skills and a lethal left foot kick, subbed off in the first quarter with what looks like a bad knee injury.
