Our socials are boring.. simple as that.

We haven’t done anything in the last few years to gain any young kids to follow our socials.

sounds silly but this is why we need another small forward like Watson to bond and team with Kozzy and hope they both star together. It’ll be appealing to watch and you’d follow to see highlights.

I know young kids aren’t really going to follow to watch Trac cook. They want the over the top goal celebrations, they want the silly wizards hats and they’d want the Koltyn Glasses.

Exactly. Kids don't care about the news, it's boring.

Kids want to see zany antics, wow factor, dancing, animals close up with a wide-angled lens etc.

Notice a pattern?

Most definitely. The worst of the Victorian Clubs

Potential sponsors will most definitely be looking at those figures too when making decisions.

I find it staggering that the MFC cannot employ some IT kids part time to run all the Socials

It really should be part of this review

Get Ben Gibson back on board!!!

When tiktok and instagram are a reason to think about moving club, something is very wrong

This is Footy FFS

Who is talking about moving clubs?

This is about attracting new supporters and sponsors, and engaging supporters who are non committal.

This is 2024 FFS. Social media presence really matters in such a lucrative market!

Dees supporters don't have time for social media because they spend all their time on Demonland.

Busy earning money unlike wastrels from other clubs

And look at the age profile then size it up against age group spending patterns.  That won't bode well for mfc.

A lot more marketing $ goes into social media platforms than ever before.

This entire thread is.

At the risk of sounding like an old fuddy duddy, I can't imagine ever having a Twitter or Instagram account and I think I'm all the better for it.  The PR guys can do their thing for the youngsters but if watching football isn't enough for people then I don't get it

Think I'll go shake my fist at a cloud now!

Drive our socials by piggy backing the Pies.......Roast them, bag them, make fun of them, play up to our rivalry but make sure we occasionally beat them.

3- We are terrible at promoting our brand. We have plenty of marketable and 'cult hero' players on our list. Gawn, Trac, Kozzie, Rivers, Roo, Kolt are ALL players you could really market. Hell you could get 20,000 teenagers to follow our social media if Rivers and Roo did some sort of semi regular 'thirst trap' posting (tasteful of course!).
Instead we show a lot of 'family club' content, which is lovely for the Facebook users, but has zero cut thru on Instagram and TikTok.

As I was reading through the last few pages of this thread to catch up, this is precisely what I was thinking.  We need to be presenting the younger players on those platforms that are used by today’s youth!

Facebook is no longer a thing for them, it’s now all Instagram and Tik Tok… they want short, to the point, even zany, clips that make them interested in what you have to offer; then they will click on ‘Follow’. They don’t even necessarily have to be directly football related, but just show that the subject in focus has a connection to the club.

I would even like to see them pay Brayshaw to come and do the Gus and Gawn segment again… it doesn’t need to be football related, but could be a good platform for exposing the likes of Kossie, Kolt, Disco, Windsor and so on, pushing their personalities more than their sporting prowess.

Just my two bits worth.

I am standing next to you. I don't understand why we have to spend millions on a overseas performer on GF day. Isn't the game enough?

i've always thought the only relevant "content" is what you see on game day

These stats look pretty made up. That all 18 teams have numbers that increment by exactly 1,000 makes me question how these are calculated.

It’s the cultural cringe.

Why can't the club utilise the Dees fans currently already making popular, great and relevant content, like Caden Mcdonald and Broden Kelly?

Cados has almost 100k subscribers on YT. Probably one of the most prominent footy figures on that platform.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
