The strategy appears to be to make life as difficult as possible for the club in the following ways:

1. A personal media embargo, including pulling out of an interview last minute

2. All media leaks being done through his management on Sunday and Monday nights, when the footy shows are on

3. Burning relationships with his teammates and hoping the players can apply the burn for him by saying they're not keen to play with him

4. Knowing the club leaders are/should be under pressure and trying to force them to make statements they can't confidently keep to

All that and potentially scaring off potential trade targets.

The club need to get out in front of this, not playing everything is fine.

He could follow A.Yze to Richmond to help with their rebuild (they have the biggest membership).

They have plenty of draft pics and Lynch.

Don't fight for a player who doesn't want to be at MFC. Can only be disruptive to us, and without being driven he could let himself decline.

Most big professional leagues around the world transfer players all the time. AFL has been an outlier, though is catching up. Tracc is part of the world's high performance athletes, and expects what that cohort does.

Most other big professional leagues give the club power to trade a contracted player whether they can get the best deal. In the AFL we must have the contracted players agreement before moving them on. Would be far better if the club owned his contract so could trade him wherever we could get the best return for the club instead of having to sort out a trade with his desired landing spot.

How would a club that values their cohesion and culture feel about welcoming someone who has gone to town burning their club/teammates, for the sake of growing their social media profile?

Thats the thing he's looking at two clubs that wouldn't give two [censored] about this tainting of his reputation. They'll take the onfield performance of a top 5 player any day. Carlton and The Filth would just welcome him with open arms.

'Fresh start new Trac' etc. 🤮

Is there a hint of the Judd trade about this if current type of Carlton trade were to come to fruition?

Dominating midfielder goes for key forward with picks...

None of the Vic clubs have the equivalent of JJK on their books. They're rare as hens teeth. Treacy, Amiss, Andrew, Walter, Cadman, Darcy are the closest I can think of.

If Petracca leaves, it would be great to see him line up against a renewed fit and firing Oliver and watch Clarrie work him over.

Come on, its Melbourne. Tracc could hamstring Gawnie and Clarry and the boys would be over smiling and patting him on the back.

The only way they can "get in front of it" is to do what Christian wants them to do and signal their willingness to trade him. I'm no fan of the club's admin at the moment, but it is an impossible hand. Saying "he's 100% staying" didn't work this week.

I guess all they can do is say they want to keep him to keep is trade value up? its like with Oliver letting it leak he was having a personal crisis before then suggesting he might be traded was amateur.

Oh yeah because competing with Cripps instead will definitely be easier

Im talking North, Richmond or even Essendon - better chance of a brownlow and better chance of a trade.

Why not have some fun and nominate who we would like to get into the club?

I will nominate St Kilda and we get King, Steele and their first rounder maybe send what we get for ANB back. Maybe they have forgotten about their psyche profile. By the way has anybody got access to the paywall so we can see why they didn't pick him?

Without knowing the list intimately, any young up and coming Carlton player would be getting nervous. If they want Trac, they’ll have to package a good player to either move up the draft or gain another 1st.

What a mess…….

Time for another 🍷

Alternatively it could be that the injury/trauma made him reassess his life/career and a desire to move on from a place he can see hasn't addressed the concerns he's raised previously or from a place that will never be the big club he wants to be part of etc.

Sure. But you make those kinds of decisions with a clear head and some open water between you and injury/trauma, not while you're still in the throes of it.

Tracca has a clear enough head to consider his 'brand' and bigger crowds!

Reckon we offer him up to Freo for Andrew Brayshaw and one of their first round draft picks. They are a big club who pull big crowds

I must admit, I reckon the way Trac has hung Clarry out to dry, it might just be enough to light a fire under Clarry’s [censored]!

Head to head in top form, it would be a ding dong battle.

Oh ffs. Record 39 disposals in a GF, Norm Smith medalist, helped us break a 57 year premiership drought, 4 time AA, played nearly 200 games for the Club, absolute champion footballer, etc. etc. Let's just all chill and remember the blood, sweat and tears he has shed for our enjoyment.

The St Kilda recruiters were the ones that needed to be "psych tested"!!!

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo

    WELCOME 2024 by Meggs

It’s been hard to miss the seismic global momentum happening in Women’s sport of late. The Matildas have been playing to record sell-out crowds across Australia and ‘Mary Fowler is God’ is chalked onto footpaths everywhere. WNBA basketball rookie sensation Caitlin Clark has almost single-handedly elevated her Indiana Fever team to unprecedented viewership, attendances and playoffs in the USA.   Our female Aussie Paris 2024 Olympians won 13 out of Australia’s all-time record 18 gol

    EPILOGUE by Whispering Jack

I sit huddled in near darkness, the only light coming through flickering embers in a damp fireplace, the room in total silence after the thunderstorm died. I wonder if they bothered to restart the game.  No point really. It was over before it started. The team’s five star generals in defence and midfield ruled out of the fray, a few others missing in action against superior enemy firepower and too few left to fly the flag for the field marshal defiantly leading his outnumbered army int
