Btw, the sooner Max and/or Gus become CEO/President of the club the better.

I think Max pretty much is our president already.

He's the bloke who keeps getting shoved in front of the cameras and mics to try and speak with eloquence and integrity.

I don't know how he does it.

I wouldn't blink an eye if he turns to a pile of dust in 2025 from the load he has carried for us over the last year or so.

Ok, I've got some more mail on all of this.

Melbourne is now looking to package up Oliver and Petracca to Geelong for a future 4th rounder and we pay $2m of their contract each year till they die. Apparently Trac got on board once he was shown that he could be the new face of a Farm to Plate cooking show with all produce being produced on his new farm that he has apparently been given by some guy on Instagram with the handle of #cottononcosta

Oliver is happy to go now too as he's been shown that any off field indiscretions are only in the news for a maximum of 15 minutes. Plus, with Geelong being close to the water, he will be able to directly fish his taped up packages from Mexico directly from his seafront property.

I’m now reluctant to give Clarry a pair of size 12’s up the behind.

We lost Travy, Col, Jacky boy, Jessy, my gut feeling is now, see out the contract,

like a bad marriage, it may be sorted over time.

If SWYLs intel Is right, the board must remove Pert today.

I still favour a top to bottom review of the entire club by an independent third party at arms length from the board and CEO. Everything in the table.

Is there any chance Simon and others inside the FD (some players included) wanted to see if they can move Clarry on but weren't sure if that was possible / best for the club in terms of the suiters / offers.

They wanted to have their cake and eat it too but didn't want to put Clarry or themselves in the horrid position if they had to walk him back in.

So they went with the Perty option.  Perty taking the heat but managing to put the feelers out 🤔

I would see that as cowardly,  gutless and very poor form but just putting it out there as one of many theories.

Suggested message to other clubs: Our minimum requirement is that (1) you take over Oliver's full contract and (2) we require an elite player in return plus a high draft pick.

Suggested message to Oliver: you are going nowhere unless Melbourne get a fair deal in exchange, including a high-class midfielder. This club has bent over backwards to assist you and it is you who owe us big time. If there are further issues with fitness or conduct, prepare for a year in the stiffs at Casey.

Just the thought of that propsect would be enough to straighten even the most bent player up surely!

Clearly he's not willing to grow up.

People really need to remember that Clarry has ADHD. And always will have, his brain is hard-wired that way.

So … difficult to suppress impulses, may not stop to consider a situation, or consequences before pursuing a course of action, etc etc. It may come across as immaturity, but it goes a lot deeper than that.

I for one want him gone, unfortunately, but I really feel for him.

One theory: Goodwin has to say he still wants Clarry in case a deal doesnt get done.

Not a theory.

"wounded and unsupported" or delusional? I think bing181 makes a very good point about the effect of Clayton's ADHD condition on all of this.

But we wouldn’t get anywhere near recouping his trade value right now…

He needs to get himself fit and fiiring

My concern with this is, if he chooses not to get fit and firing, has more off field troubles and/or holds the club in contempt resulting in him making no effort ( even begin happy to front up weekly at Casey) would MFC still be required to PAY HIS FULL SALARY?

If so, player contacts are clearly too heavily stacked in the players favour to the point of being farcical.

So far, out Oliver and in Tom Campbell. Wow, that is really improving our list.

Campbell is considering his options now

😂

I remember the jubilation around here when we had signed up Tracc and Clarrie basically for life. Now it’s like an ugly nightmare that could make it impossible for us to attract and keep decent talent for the rest of the decade. Such is life.

He does....   what it does/offer is avail the reader as to the nature of the road and its signs.

It doesn't change the "traffic"

Currently it's like the Monash ...inbound around 6.30am...   or outbound at 5.

If you know... you know.

We need to take a different road ( as a club )...  or we're going nowhere.

Absolutely embarrassing from Pert

This guy has the subtlety of a bull in a China shop and yet he thought no one would find out if he was shopping Clarry around?

I don’t care what, if any, issues have been going on behind the scenes with Clarry - Pert getting caught out has made us look like an absolute shambles of a club and this is now a lose lose situation whichever way we go

Seriously disappointed to be an MFC member at the moment

He was overheard in a cafe this morning on his phone telling someone he's off to the Dees.

  • Thank You Simon Goodwin

As Demon fans, we’ve ridden a rollercoaster of emotions over the decades; the heartbreaks, the near misses, the wooden spoons, and the endless waiting. But through it all, we clung to hope. And then came Simon Goodwin. Before he ever wore red and blue, he was a champion in his own right. A five-time All-Australian, two-time Best and Fairest, and two-time premiership hero and Captain with Adelaide, Simon Goodwin was always destined to lead. When he transitioned from the field to the coach's box, first as an assistant at Essendon, he began shaping a new legacy.

  • PREVIEW: Western Bulldogs

Long ago and far away, the Melbourne Football Club replaced its coach in difficult circumstances after the team suffered a devastating loss. In the aftermath, I penned the following words: “Then came the politics, the intrigue, the axing, the sound of the football world laughing at a club, the circling of the media vultures, the reinvention of history, the anger, the irony, the pathos, the hurt on the face of the president, the dignified departure of the coach, and the determination of the newly appointed caretaker.” Today, we’re back in the same place although one difference here is that the coach who was terminated this time is Simon Goodwin, the man who four years ago

  • REPORT: West Coast

The Charles Dickens novel, A Tale of Two Cities, opens with, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, …”  This phrase highlights many of the significant challenges that humanity encounters in life, ranging from experiencing remarkable highs to living in times of despair. This is a concept that should resonate with all supporters of the Melbourne Football Club this morning as they reflect on its comprehensive 83-point victory over the struggling West Coast Eagles at Marvel Stadium. The outcome proved beyond doubt that they are the worst of clubs and that we are the best of the worst.
