People having a crack at the club but the only thing that has created this are Oliverโ€™s actions.. club has supported him continuously & only so much they can put up with โ€ฆ.ย

He should have been traded last year. The fan club on here wouldnt accept that there was a major problem Club is shown to be weak and have been manipulated by Claytons management

If Carrie is traded fro less than 2 top 10 picks we are being screwed over.

If we pay any of his wage then all the turnips who sign off on it should be removed instantly from the club.

God I hate this [censored] club at times. Only we can right royally make a mess off a competition best midfield.

Two top 10 picks and we dont pay a cent of his salary, , haha, boy youre going to be disappointed. **NEWSFLASH** It isnt 2021

Whatever the outcome thereโ€™s no denying that itโ€™s turned into yet another PR [censored] show, if only to the consumers of talkback sports radio. The B&F should be a jolly affair tomorrow night.ย

Something doesn't feel right.

Why would Pert reach out to Geelong, a club without the draft capital and salary cap space to make it a viable option.ย

Just as an example - Richmond, North and Eagles makes more sense!

On top of that, reaching out to a team you'd hope you would be contending against. Just dumb!

How do you know he didnt? Maybe he has and they have said they arent interested? Not every club wants Oliver like some of you seem to believe.ย

Given the club said they didn't know about the meeting, I don't think Pert did. Geelong seems to be off Clarry's own bat, probably due to previous interest and an understanding that they could help support him with his issues.

Are they saying that teammates weren't happy with him attending the Brownlow? Or did something happen there?

Missing medical appointments he's agreed would be disappointing though. The real issue is if his teammates have lost faith in him again. Going to be hard to overcome.

He probably shouldn't have been there. Don't even think he polled and a few other players way more deserving.

Jeez I'm sick of all this [censored]!

The laughable thing is all this is happening smack-bang in the middle of a review.

Lucky Pert has exempted himself from it.

The icing on the cake would be to get bent over by Andrew 'Dedoro' Mackie if the trade request is true.

I need to find my MFCSS pills.

In return, Geelong willย offer up Spiro Malakellis, David Mensch and pick 53

Actually, Ramsey Bogdanovich, Glen Middlemiss or even Redodgeavic from Geelong West would be handy for us right now.

I'm so over all this. I'm at the point that I'm ready to embrace a bit of a rebuild and see if we can get back in a couple of years. We've got some good young players on our list, add a couple of years of high draft picks and who knows.

You can't seriously challenge with these spotfires coming up every other week.

So are Goodwin/the FD on the same page as Pert? This sounds like theyโ€™re not.ย

There are issues with this wherever you look.ย

If its true he got blind at the brownlow and has missed medical appointments then hard to criticise the club for saying enough is enough. We're his employer not his family. We can't be spending so much time on one employee. At some point it becomes enabling.

Some club will take him on. The cats most likely. but it will be for peanuts i'm afraid.

very disappointing all round

Just watch Clarry bugger off to the ๐Ÿˆ and be a reborn star ...ย
Ppl talk about culture at a club... but ย It is imho as much about 'smarts'...footy nouse ...and Dees ย don't have a lot... can't ย !!

Some clubs are better at managing things....

Can someone please explain to me the difference between the 'footy department' and the 'list management committee'? Surely there would be some crossover there but they are being reported as having wildly different views.

Easy to say some club will take him on but we have to get a trade that works.ย  It will be unders on what his value is but you want a top 10 pick and low second round pick.

He got absolutely sideways with Jamarra Ugle-Hagan.

Fact?????

My read on the MFC strategy is that we want to see if we can trade Oliver to clean up our salary cap. We see Oliver as an overpaid player who is in decline and believe he is a trouble maker.

While Pert had the initial discussions to get the ball rolling, the whole club is on the same page that Oliver should be traded if we can strike the right deal. By having Pert drive things, the coaches and rest of the footy department can say they "want to keep him" and we will be able to walk it back if the deal is insufficient.

I think Geelong are going to want to get Oliver for next to nothing in picks and have us to pay a massive chunk of his wages. I hope we don't do this trade butย I back the club on this. They know how difficult to manage Oliver is and the whole footy department (except for Taylor) have their jobs on the line, so they won't want to do a lopsided trade either.

ย

Sorry, but this is not a normal employer/employee relationship. Just offloading him for peanuts has the potential to set this club's list back years, and frankly I'm not interested in sitting where we were from 2007-2017 again.

If the club believes they need to trade him, either it's for a decent return or we make it work for 12 mths and try to maximise his value. You don't just offload a guy to the detriment of your own position

This is all very distressing.
At my age, Iโ€™d be better off choosing to follow a club with a chance of a premiership in the next couple of years. At least Iโ€™d be giving myself some enjoyment.ย
So putting aside the sunk cost of 7 decades following Melbourne, and making a choice for the now, which club would be the best to follow? Yes, heresy, but a serious question.ย

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.
