It was a great night to be at the footy.

A lot of vote worthy players but from my vantage point here were the 6 most influential

6. Ed Langdon - as Scott pointed out post game it was our peripheral players rather than the inside mids who did most of the damage and Ed was chief among them.

5. Windsor - another example of what Scott was talking about.  This boy is a seriously good player. Proves that wet weather actually accentuates a skilful player.

4.McVee - another balanced and poised game from the new Corey Enright.

3. Melksham - his forward half leadership makes such a difference.  In fact his injury at the end of last season cost us at least one final win and potentially a premiership.

2. Rivers - another very good game from a very good footballer.

1. Oliver - not his usual style, more of a linkman last night but used the ball well mostly, considering the conditions.  It was great to see his improved ball handling.

Honourable mentions to JVR who is a competitor of the highest order and to ANB who did a great job containing an absolute champion of the game.  Merrett was still effective but nowhere near what he has been.

6 McVee - could he win our B&F if Gawny is out a couple more weeks. So polished and had to play on Stringer for a fair chunk on the night and won that match-up hands down in the conditions.

5 Langdon - I was going to say Eddie everywhere, but he actually just ran up and down the AFL wing all game like he used to before Goody's experiment of playing him as a high half-forward this year. Missed the top votes because he was responsible for one of Essendon's best - Nick Martin - for a bit of the game.

4 ANB - Zac Merrett has been killing it in recent weeks and ANB was on to him making it tough for him from the first bounce.

3 Melksham - Not as classy as Fritter, but used his body and smarts to maximum effect to make Ridley accountable.

2 Windsor - What a goal and made sure his opponent - Cox - spends the rest of the year in the VFL.

1 Oliver - after being unsighted in first quarter, emerged from a rev-up to dominate second term and then just kept diving in like his good, old days.

Apologies to Rivers whose disposal was appalling, but yes I did notice the presence and the height he brings to our midfield. If he'd hit a couple of targets he probably gets the 5 votes.

Apologies also to Kozzie - another silly early 50m penalty but came back well after halftime and was clearly a big factor as well, especially given he was given a hard tag at throw ins and ball ups and worked through it.

Votes should also go to Goodwin who decided to go small, against my wishes, and the weather gods looked after us and him. It was a bit like tipping a downpour at the GP and selecting wet-weather tyres.

6 - Trent Rivers has bridged the gap

5 - Ed Langdon back to his 2021 best

4 - Judd McVee another brilliant game

3 - Steven Stonewall May

2 - Clayton Oliver are we witnessing a resurrection

1 - Alex Neal-Bullen great tagging role

Then - Kozzie, Milkshake, JVR, Disco, Fritta, Duke & Kolt, a great team effort. Special mention to our coaching group, that was audacious, risky and brilliant.

6. Petty. He needs some love atm

5. @Golly123 for his love of Ollie. You gotta love love.

4. Goody. Because he gave us a premiership and still can get some love from too many.

3. MFC. I just love this club.

2. @Rhino Richards I worry about his constant slapping (facepalm) of his face. He needs to love himself more and stop self harming.

An outstanding win, highlighted by the character and discipline of our boys, the continued emergence of our younger brigade, and a coaching masterclass by Goody and his cohorts in the coaches box.  I found it very difficult to narrow it down to 6 vote winners, but this is my crack at it:

6.  McVee  -  showed great temperament, vision and polish under pressure.  A future AA candidate, if I’m any sort of judge!
5.  Langdon  -  back to his best, which is very, very good.  The perfect link man, always in the right spot at the right time.  Another 16km+ game?
4.  Rivers  -  continued to build on his recent run of very impressive form as a mid.  His strength and power in the contest stood out to me.
3.  Pickett  -  provided energy, pressure and a regular ‘spark’ when we needed it.  Continued to add to his very impressive highlights reel. Great 100th!
2.  ANB  -  again showed his enormous work ethic and discipline to keep a potential match winner fairly quiet, while getting plenty of the ball himself.
1.  Windsor  -  pace, vision and ball use were fantastic.  Such a mature head on very young shoulders.

Too many other strong contributors to mention them all, but May, JvR and Clarrie warrant special mention.

An appalling decision by the umpire.  A 10 meter kick was paid a mark but did the whistle blow?  He wasn’t called back on the mark as is the usual custom.

21 votes - Goodwin - seriously impressive from gameplan, match-ups and huddle intensity.  Focused on shutting down Bombers danger men.  Brilliant.

Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session.
