MFCSS is on high alert.

Everyone calling for rain! I want it as dry as possible. Was a wet day the last time we played them and it didn't stop draper and phillips combining for 5 strong goals and killing us! They're in good form and it will be tough, but I'm loving the new look Dees. Hoping we can work on some better method out of the centre by necessity without Maxy. Team has grown so much in the last three weeks. Let that continue! Go Dees

The only reason I hope it rains is because Gawn plays his worst games in wet weather, so in essence we wouldn’t really be missing him.

However, you’re right in relation to hoping for a dry game. Our performances last year in wet weather as well as the Carlton game this year have been largely deplorable. We’re not a highly skilled side at the best of times, and wet weather only exacerbates our skill issue.

Interesting last night the conditions appeared slippery with the dew, and a lot of kicking off the ground and forcing the ball forward was used by both sides. Interesting to see how it will be tonight….

this clear blue sky over the 3144 doesn't fill me with confidence

i long for the ol 2.10pm game...train from malvern to richmond at 1.30pm, game at 2.10pm, back home by 5.45pm...

Season defining game

I don’t say it often but win and we go 10-7 with 6 games left and should make finals. Lose and it’s 9-8 and finals difficult

Bombers are about our level right now which is depressing to say so it’ll come down to who goes in harder for longer

A start like last week would be nice!

definitely agree. We have Kozzi, Rivers, Melky, Windsor, JVR etc all with great skill.

it’ll be dewy but a really wet game would not suit us

I have the ying and yang experience this morning.

  • YING - Delight and expectation that my Dees are playing, are on TV, and a heap of new young players showing some skill and grunt.
  • YANG - we are playing the [censored] whom I loathe with a passion equal to those drivers who refuse to indicate before they hit the brake pedal.

If the game is played in a similar manner to last night Pies v Cats, we are in for a good night. If it becomes an aerial game it could become difficult for us.

Kozzie's milestone, Clarry finding the ball, Fritsch & Melksham in tandem, May & Lever in tandem, Langdon & Windsor in tandem.

Dees by 10

Maldonboy - "Dees by 10" - is that points or goals??

Well what a grey damp cold miserable day it is at the moment, I hope it clears up to be a nice dry evening for football.
There’s not many games where I wake up nervous from the get go but today is. The result of this game is huge for our season, we just need to get the win. And where playing Essendon I ride shotgun with WCW in my hatred for this arrogant scum of a club.

Same, Ang! I’m always chill af. I only have my weight’s worth of coffee and Red Bull and a carton of cigarettes because that’s how I roll. 😀

I'm quietly confident. Clarry to star. And all the forwards to get involved

Confidence/Delusion… it’s all the same right? 😁

Seriously MD, you just have to BELIEVE. I genuinely believe we’ll beat them, I really do. Our boys are riding a wave of confidence and belief and their players have probably let doubt creep in. Reason being, before they beat Collingwood everyone was saying they haven’t beaten any of the top sides. They beat Collingwood and that boosted their confidence… muchly 😡 After watching Collingwood last night, you can’t tell me Essendon are still feeling so invincible.

We need to capitalise on that self-doubt, and I believe we will.

WE CAN (AND WILL) DO THIS!!!

He has been told he must attend.
If anyone wants to win the flag in 2025 and wants to fork out $700 for a membership for him so he can attend finals, we will accept 😂

I’ll do that. And I’ll have a limousine parked out front of yours every GameDay for him.

I don’t think we’ll be the pushover that Essendon will be expecting. They’ve had a very easy fixture. Not that they’re top eight anymore, but until last round, they hadn’t beaten a team in the right. Even then, it was only Collingwood.

*clueless about wine so hadda Google ‘most expensive wine’ and this one goes for $2,350 a pop! The website says ‘free delivery’!!!! I should bloody think so! At that price I’d expect Brad Pitt to deliver it. 😅

  • GAMEDAY: Fremantle

It’s Game Day, and the Demons return to the MCG wounded, undermanned and desperate. Still searching for their first win of the season, Melbourne faces a daunting task against the Fremantle Dockers. With key pillars missing at both ends of the ground, the Dees must find a way to rise above the adversity and ignite their season before it slips way beyond reach. Will today be the spark that turns it all around, or are we staring down the barrel of a 0–6 start?

  • PREVIEW: Fremantle

A month is a long time in AFL football. The proof of this is in the current state of the two teams contesting against each other early this Saturday afternoon at the MCG. It’s hard to fathom that when Melbourne and Fremantle kicked off the 2025 season, the former looked like being a major player in this year’s competition after it came close to beating one of the favourites in the GWS Giants while the latter was smashed by Geelong to the tune of 78 points and looked like rubbish. Fast forward to today and the Demons are low on confidence and appear panic stricken as their winless streak heads towards an even half dozen and pressure mounts on the coach and team leadership.  Meanwhile, the Dockers have recovered their composure and now sit in the top eight. They are definitely on the up and up and look most likely winners this weekend against a team which they have recently dominated and which struggles to find enough passages to the goals to trouble the scorers. And with that, Fremantle will head to the MCG, feeling very good about itself after demolishing Richmond in the Barossa Valley with Josh Treacy coming off a six goal haul and facing up to a Melbourne defence already without Jake Lever and a shaky Steven May needing to pass a fitness test just to make it onto the field of play.

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old side—the Tigers—coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
