You don't think it's relevant? Let's wait until next week.

good idea. come back after our next loss and enjoy yourself

Random stats.

JvR kicked his 50th goal today and currently sitting on 51 goals from 34 games.

Pickett kicked his 150th today.

Fritsch has now kicked 243 goals equalling David Schwarz career tally and achieving it in 30 less games.

@beelzebub, Mr Realist himself, "thanked" it.

In other words, he also thinks it's "delusional" to say we're back in the hunt.

The same guy who pre-game said "win, and win well, and there's some momentum and belief".

And in response to a 9-goal win which gave us 5% and puts us a win and 5% behind 5th.

It's not delusional. It's correct.

Do you really think we're finishing in the 8 ?

I don't.  I think we'll play more good footy...but so will opposition.

Thats reality.

To be in the hunt....means finals.

I'll be very surprised. More than happy to keep developing the lads.

Nice to know where i live rent free  ;)

No, that isn't.

That's pessimism.

If you don't think we're in the hunt to make finals where we sit right now, that's your pessimism talking. You're entitled to your view, but FFS please stop calling it "realism". It's just your view.

PS what were you expecting when you said pre-game "win, and win well, and we'll build momentum and belief". 54 points isn't winning well?

Reid and Kelly are explosive jets. They were the only thing preventing a 100+ point belting. We beat them well at stoppages but we couldn't match their pace in the middle.

it's more than just pace. it's also not petracca out because it's been all season.

it's structure ... there is none ... should be able to at least break even with good structure/tactics

Can I just say how much I live the 1:10 games. It was perfect sitting there today and I'm home by 5.

I know they aren't ideal for marketing & prime time but it's a good slot.

Also the kids stuff out the front looked great. The kids were having a ball. Even when I went out at half time they were still doing the activities

It’s basically the only timeslot you can take younger kids to IMO. Left the house at 11:30 and home by 5:00. It’s ideal.

I love a night game but it’s definitely a solo outing for me (with other family and friends but not the kids)

Top 8.  Who knows?

Our young brigade are very good but they are young.  They will be up and down.

If we build some belief, we could cause some trouble.

I don't think this is our year, but with some stability, good leadership, our good players remaining good and our young brigade building 2025, we could be right up there.

It's been a while since we had a win like that without Gawn, Petracca, Oliver or Viney being in our best.

It feels like the change of the guard.... But we still have long term contracts with Petracca, Oliver and Lever amongst others.

So I think it's truly a mini rebuild on the fly.

Windsor was amazing today! his work rate is incredible, the fact he can run like he does and still just find some juice to sprint the way he can when required is amazing! not many players have the speed/endurance combo like he does, and even less also possess incredible footy IQ and poise.

Loving the Rivers move into the midfield!

I don't think it's any coincidence sadly that Van Rooyen and Fritsch played their best games in some time the week Petty was out and Melksham was in, the sum of all parts was significantly better today and it really did highlight to me how big a hinderance Petty has become up forward.

Melksham is soooo elite with his foot skills, great weapon to link up to the likes of Fritta, JVR and Kozzy.

I will say something I definitely wouldn’t have said pre season.

Melk and Tom Mac must go another season.

It's the kids for me that is the story of today.

Kolt has swagger and campaigner about him. I have desperately wanted this kind of player since Bernie Vince or Tom Bugg. He's also a very impressive young player

JVR will be a our number 1 key forward from next year onwards. He's got it all.

Windsor - Enough said, the kid has class and star factor.

McVee - All class and silk. His composure right on the members wing pretty dam impressive.

Andy Moniz Wakefield - give me a contract extension. The kid is a beauty. Tough, composed and reminds of another #45 who used to bounced off half back.

Turner rarely loses a contests. He engages and then brings the ball to ground. He'll only get better with age and experience.

Then there is Rivers and Koz who play like 150 game veterans.

Agree completely.

I love watching Judd play. He's so clean on the ground, always composed and a beautiful kick.

Jason Taylor and co, take a bow.

Edited by Binmans PA

I know his kicking isn't great but viney makes for it with his tackles & aggression.

I think he took it personally with what Harley did last time. In the 1st half he sat Harley on his backside,  nailed him in tackles & was just aggressive with him.

Just to prove I don’t only whinge when we lose :  that insufficient intent given against the WCE player who belted the ball forward was absolutely stupid. He was clearly trying to get it to 2 teammates all on their own 30m away.   Came off his fist slightly off and went 20m and went out. Good grief

I ironically called for deliberate and then he paid it! I shouted out that I was only joking.

Terrible decision.

Daniel Turner is a reliable kick for goal and he has good hands. The future is bright for him.

Well done Jason Taylor .

I still see him as a defender long term, especially after May retires in the next 2-3 years but he's made a great fist of it as a forward thus far this season.

My favourite part of the game was when Max came in and dealt with Reid after he thought he could simply bully Kolt without repercussions.

Loved seeing our skip fly the flag, as much as seeing Max get angry. He is an even more imposing figure when throwing his weight around.

Great to see our ball movement off half back and our attack/pressure on the opposition. It was there last week but we couldn't sustain, bring that effort every week and we will win more than we lose.

Clayton ranked only above Woewodin for us ... what's going on there?  He is a shell of his former self.

I still don’t know how they’re so bad. They have Waterman, Allen and Ryan up forward. They have Yeo, Kelly, Reid in the middle and McGovern, Duggan and Barras down back. That’s some good players who would get a game for any side.

Ryan in the back line for 3 qtrs.  If we played Kozzie in the backline we'd be stripped of draft picks for the subsequent 3 seasons.

Fantastic win. I know some would have been disappointed with it not being a 12–13 goal win but the Eagles haven’t really been belted by huge numbers this year except for the Adelaide game.

The thing that impressed me the most was wrestling back the momentum mid qtr multiple times. That’s something we’ve struggled with this year but we did it well today.

The big question is how do we make room for Petty? I still feel we still need him there as I thought we looked a little too short up forward when JvR was in the ruck.

You seemingly struggle with parallel concepts.

Yes...that was a good win. There were some great elements and efforts.  Some...meh..  overall.  Very good.

Does that put us in the hunt as you desperately want to be. ??  You say yes. I say no... simply because we're not going to be in the 8 come EOS.

Reality is reality..  You're describing impressions... wants etc... they are a different thing.

You're bowling in the wrong lane if you think one is the other.

Btw...can i add utilities to the rent.... cheers

I was there today having a good look at Clayton.

He definitely is playing a different role and lots of time was clearly defending stoppages with his back to the ball blocking Yeo.

TBH it does not overly bother me if we make the finals or not. Its just pleasing to see young players been given an opportunity and make the most of the opportunities given.

Clarry is only going at 40% capacity which is now understandable given his lack of offseason conditioning.

  • GAMEDAY: Geelong

It's Game Day, and reinforcements are finally arriving for the Demons—but will it be too little, too late? They're heading down the freeway to face a Cats side returning home to their fortress after two straight losses, desperate to reignite their own season. Can the Demons breathe new life into their campaign, or will it slip even further from their grasp?

  • PREVIEW: Geelong

"It's officially time for some alarm bells. I'm concerned about the lack of impact from their best players." This comment about one of the teams contesting this Friday night’s game came earlier in the week from a so-called expert radio commentator by the name of Kane Cornes. He wasn’t referring to the Melbourne Football Club but rather, this week’s home side, Geelong. The Cats are purring along with 1 win and 2 defeats and a percentage of 126.2 (courtesy of a big win at GMHBA Stadium in Round 1 vs Fremantle) which is one win more than Melbourne and double the percentage so I guess that, in the case of the Demons, its not just alarm bells, but distress signals. But don’t rely on me. Listen to Cornes who said this week about Melbourne:- “They can’t run. If you can’t run at speed and get out of the contest then you’re in trouble.

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit.
Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

For a brief period of time in the early afternoon of yesterday, the Casey Demons occupied top place on the Smithy’s VFL table. This was only made possible by virtue of the fact that the team was the only one in this crazy competition to have played twice and it’s 1½ wins gave it an unassailable lead on the other 20 teams, some of who had yet to play a game.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

In my all-time nightmare game, the team is so ill-disciplined that it concedes its first two goals with the courtesy of not one, but two, fifty metre penalties while opening its own scoring with four behinds in a row and losing a talented youngster with good decision-making skills and a lethal left foot kick, subbed off in the first quarter with what looks like a bad knee injury.
