The Morris report said Melbourne denied it and listed St Kilda and Essendon as the clubs with the cap space.

St Kilda probably the one, after losing Battle they’ve got a huge hole at CHB and not much big spending anywhere really (maybe Max King and Marshall). Has all the hallmarks of Gubby Allen.

I haven’t seen enough from Mac as a forward to say he’s worth that money. We’ve got Petty for a couple of years at least as well as Lever. That’s a lot of cash for key backs even if they would be dominant.

Not sure the timing really adds up for us. But I love that the Suns will be kept honest for him and they’ll need to punt Lukosius to free cap space.

Andrew Brayshaw.

Need to wait until he's OOC.

Freo won't trade him, or they'll want pick 5.

Next year is the year, but of course I hope we are constantly in his ear about finishing what his brother started.

The last sentence indicates a Craig Bradley type then?

Well, why stop at a Craig Bradley type? Why not Craig Bradley himself?

Some would say "He's 60 - what are you talking about?" I'd say, "We're right in the Flag window. He's the mature and experienced final piece of the jigsaw puzzle we need. Start cutting massive arm holes in the number 21 jumper. Sorry, Jeffo, you're wearing number 30 now."

the list squeeze at suns may provide a few interesting options if we can get them for little to provide some depth.  Discussions include Lukosius, Rosas, Day (DFA maybe), and Davies.

of interest:

Mids - Robertson (BL), Peatling (GWS), Brodie (Freo), Parfitt (Geel)

Fwd - Kreuger, Not sure on value of Wright.

Ruck - Kruger, Wright, Day could play this role as genuine ruck/fwd allowing JVR and Jeffo to be pure fwd.  Still not ruling out Fullerton either to come on.

Interesting idea to get Raik Andrew (Mak's brother who is our NGA), as some bargaining power for Mac later

Freo is primary school.

Hopefully one day the bell will ring and it will be home time.

I'd be targeting Sam Day from the Gold Coast along with Rosas.

Pretty sure Day would come free and Rosas would come cheap say a 3rd or 4th rounder.

I would mention 2 meter Peter from Essendon but still in contract and would want a 1st rounder.

Hopefully Kalani White chooses Melbourne, although I assume the club knows the answer to this already.

KEY-POSITON GIANTS IN-DEMAND

Uncapped GWS swingman Wade Derksen has emerged as a wanted man in a thin field for key position players this trade period.

Derksen, 23, believes he can be a goalkicking forward and has played as a key defender throughout 2024 but has been stuck behind Giants Sam Taylor, Harry Himmelberg, Jack Buckley and Leek Aleer.

Several clubs have registered interest in the 194cm player, including clubs in Western Australia and Victoria.

It is understood Melbourne is one of the clubs interested in Derksen.

He was taken at No.5 in the 2022 mid-season draft after being watched closely by several clubs during stints with Essendon in the VFL, Peel Thunder in the WAFL and NTFL side Nightcliff.

Hailing from the Northern Territory, Derksen and his partner are due to have twins this week and already have a young son.

He is contracted for next year at GWS but would like more family help given his growing family and is expected to favour a trade to Victoria for that reason.

Derksen has put up impressive numbers in the VFL this year, averaging 19.5 disposals, 2.9 intercept marks and 8 intercept possessions a game.

He floated forward in the last three games of the year and kicked two goals in each match.

I'm surprised it doesn't mention his 2023 season where he played predominantly forward kicking 35 goals 17 behinds in 18 games. Presents really well, strong mark, confident, reads the ball in the air and  kick straight.

Jai Serong - 21 year old Hawks key defender. Hawks going hard for Barass and Battle also joining them.

With Tommo likely gone, TMAC with 1 year maximum left, Hore not quite at AFL standard, Jed Adam's still developing, he may be worth a look.

Hawks fans rate him

Don't think any of these players are on the trade table. Wright was on the outer towards the end of last year but 50+ goals and a bnf in 2022 don't think the bombers would just let him go for nothing .

He will be on good money so Dons may want him off their books.

I'm surprised there hasn't been more emphasis on KPD. May and McDonald into their last season or two, Jed Adams on a long contract but is yet to really show anything. The cupboard is bare, especially after we've swung Turner and Petty forward.

Good call. Unlucky not to get more opportunities at the Giants.  Would be very handy with his size.

    TRAINING: Monday 20th January 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
