I would love us to have a crack at

1 Tim Membrey

2 Matt Kennedy

and possibly

3 Matt Owies

all would be upgrades for us

Like all of these options, and Finn Maginness.  Obviously for the right price.

Membrey will be a delisted FA, I really like Kennedy to play the Brayshaw role.

But we are into Sharp and obviously want Derkson if we can get him, so i doubt we bring in many more after those two

The update…close of business Friday 11 October 2024

LIST UPDATE Tom Campbell - delisted free agent … 32yo VFL ruckman. Signed up 4/10/24 🤔

Wade Derksen - 2 1/2 yrs with GWS. Zero games.  Nominated the Dees but GWS standing firm saying no trade 🤬

James Peatling - GWS - has sought trade to the Crows. Dees one of five interested clubs (missed out) 🥵

Dan Houston - originally planning a move to the Dees then all the dramas at MFC seemingly killed that move. Houston said committed to Port. Houston move then back in to Vic … Kangas, filthy Pies and arrogant Blues in the race (Dees to miss out) 🤮

Matt Owies - Dees originally linked but seems to have cooled. Media reporting his salary is high at >$600k. (We should pass on this) 👍🏻

Clayton Oliver potential move to Cats gets media filth bags all excited. Pert reportedly shopping Clarry around.  Tim Lamb says never was on the cards despite Clarrys farm visit!! (Relief)  Damien Barrrett, Sam McClure, Greg Baum, Matthew Lloyd all continue to stir up rumours that this is untrue and Clarry will walk to the Cats (he’s under contract but this doesn’t stop mud throwing journos)

Harry Sharp - Brisbane Lions - like Kiwi in the Melbourne Cup, has come from nowhere to apparently be ready to sign up with the Dees. Played 6 games in 2024   Sees better opportunities at the Dees, with his run and carry style being sought after  At 22years, he has some upside still and his endurance will be an asset.

Pick swaps rumours. Dees seeking moves with Lions or Suns. Dees future 1st potentially on the table plus a mix of our current picks. Wait and see how and what eventuates as pick swaps can be ongoing up until and including on the draft night

All quiet on MFC showing any interest in Brandon Parfitt. 🤔🤔🤔

😭ANB returned home to Adelaide for pick “28” - likely be pick 34/35 after academy and father son bids &  matching

Saints sizing up to have a crack at TDK by the sounds of it.

My brain doesn’t function well enough to remember the initials of every AFL player, and the only TDK that immediately springs to mind for me, is the old cassette tape brand. Who is it?

Hope we are too

I'd be throwing the bag at TDK & Leek Aleer

I think there was a report last year that we had interest in Aleer

Let’s hope that’s true 👀

I would be amazed if he ended up at St Kilda, no matter how much they offer him.

Not at the $1.5m being reported

The Saints deal is overs but I wouldn't be against throwing him a mega deal, great successor for Gawn who can genuinely play forward and mark the footy before moving into the ruck full time

It is enormous money in todays terms (and still pretty big money in future terms) but salary cap goes up and Gawn/May deals won’t be on our books in a few years

He has huge potential but is still not consistent enough at this stage and will never be as good as Max

What would it take to drag Kozzie out of Fremantle?

🎶 There'd be nothing like a Crown, for picking him up and putting him down!🎶

Rookie Quinton Narkle.

If the Kozzy trade is likely, Bobby Hill is a great replacement. OOC at the Pies and looking for $$$ in his next deal, can we provide?

Is the OOC status correct? Not challenging you directly, but some reporting over the past 12 months states he's OOC at the end of 2026, whilst other reporting states it's this year.

I usually go to Footywire and that has him OOC at the end of 2025... who knows though

He is indeed contracted to '26, good call. Still fits our timeline for a recruitment if we can hold out one more year before a Koz trade is done.

I’d rather lose Kossie.

Than who Narkle or Hill?
Ridiculous decision if either are available.

  • REPORT: Sydney

A few weeks ago, I visited a fellow Melbourne Football Club supporter in hospital, and our conversation inevitably shifted from his health diagnosis to the well-being of our football team. Like him, Melbourne had faced challenges in recent months, but an intervention - in his case, surgery, and in the team's case, a change in game style - had brought about much improvement.  The team's professionals had altered its game style from a pedestrian and slow-moving approach, which yielded an average of merely 60 points for five winless games, to a faster and more direct style. This shift led to three consecutive wins and a strong competitive effort in the fourth game, albeit with a tired finish against Hawthorn, a strong premiership contender.  As we discussed our team's recent health improvement, I shared my observations on the changes within the team, including the refreshed style, the introduction of new young talent, such as rising stars Caleb Windsor, Harvey Langford, and Xavier Lindsay, and the rebranding of Kozzy Pickett from a small forward to a midfield machine who can still get among the goals. I also highlighted the dominance of captain Max Gawn in the ruck and the resurgence in form in a big way of midfield superstars Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver.

  • POSTGAME: Sydney

The Demons controlled the contest from the outset, though inaccurate kicking kept the Swans in the game until half time. But after the break, Melbourne put on the jets and blew Sydney away and the demolition job was complete.

  • CASEY: Northern Bullants

The Casey Demons travelled to a windy Cramer Street, Preston yesterday and blew the Northern Bullants off the ground for three quarters before shutting up shop in the final term, coasting to a much-needed 71-point victory after leading by almost 15 goals at one stage. It was a pleasing performance that revived the Demons’ prospects for the 2025 season but, at the same time, very little can be taken from the game because of the weak opposition. These days, the Bullants are little more than road kill. The once proud club, situated behind the Preston Market in a now culturally diverse area, is currently facing significant financial and on-field challenges, having failed to secure a win to date in 2025.

  • GAMEDAY: Sydney

It’s Game Day, and the Demons have a golden opportunity to build on last week’s stirring win by toppling Sydney at the MCG. A victory today would keep them firmly in the hunt for a finals spot and help them stay in touch with the pack chasing a place in the Top 8. Can the Dees make it two in a row and bring down the Swans?
