PREGAME: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

Recommended Posts

After two disappointing back to back losses the Demons have the bye in Round 14 and then face perennial cellar dweller North Melbourne at the MCG on Saturday night in Round 15. Who comes in and who goes out?

Please let’s see Sestan, Tholstrup and Fullarton.

Surely Petty has to be omitted on form.

Turner, Billings, Laurie don’t look up to it.

Chandler, Sparrow, Oliver and Fritsch have unsatisfactory and should be dropped even just to make a statement but the cupboards bare so they’ll stay in.

I dread the inevitable dropping of Howes, Laurie and Turner for Woey, McAdam & B.Brown whilst the likes of Petty, Sparrow, Bowey etc get away with the bare minimum as always.

If Roos bring that same pressure against Eagles, they are a genuine sniff.

Out: Billings, Laurie, Turner.

In: Woewodin, McAdam, Tholstrup.

Go bit smaller for more forward half pressure given the foot skills are way off at the moment.

Tholstrup, and play him for the rest of the year. Time to make selections for the future rather than the present. Unfortunately.

Not sure that any other changes are more than rearranging the deck chairs.

Not sure about the ins/outs, hopefully Petracca pulls up ok after the break.

If Lever isn't ready I would put Turner down back and consider bringing Fullarton in for fwd/ruck duties.

Tholstrup perhaps to get a recall. Does Casey have a game next week?

This disgraceful excuse for a support competition - no. Another bye.  A blight on player development.

FB: Howes May McVee

HB: Bowey McDonald Salem

C: Langdon Viney Windsor

HF: ANB Fritsch Tholstrup

FF: Laurie van Rooyen Fullarton

R: Gawn Oliver Rivers

I/C: Woewodin, Tomlinson, Sestan, McAdam

Sub: Turner

Those italicised should be on notice for playing totally within themselves since the bye. Petracca out maybe saves Sparrow, but I just can't put up with the lack of effort from the likes of him, Chandler and Petty every week.

It does feel a bit silly throwing in Sestan, Fullarton and Tholstrup but there also isn't much choice unless we want to keep rewarding mediocrity.

Would like to see Tholstrup, Woey and AMW in the team next game.

Think it's worth testing Fullarton out against North, he was signed as back up.. but i'm sure he'd be doing Petty/Turner numbers in this team. Would keep JvR forward too.

Sestan must be getting closer - Does he have the tank?

Kolt in - and tell him to tackle everything in sight

6 players who pulled on the MFC jumper today had zero tackles

I hink Lever said he'd be back after the bye.

Just play Woewodin and Koltyn for the rest of the year. Surely they couldn't do any worse than Laurie, Billings, Sparrow or Chandler at the moment

Petty , disco out or back to the backline

One or more of the Casey forwards who have actually been drafted and played a lot of footy as a forward.

Jefferson, Luka, Fullerton , Brown can't be any worse.

Surely Kolt, and Sestan, both big bodied but inexperienced, would both contribute more than Billings and Laurie, and we definitely need a big strong body to replace Petracca.

Even Luker Kentfield would probably outdo poor Petty who is just totally devoid of confidence - I know he won't get a debut probably this season but that is how low impact or tall forwards (JVR excepted) are at the moment.

Fullarton, if he is ever going to be selected, must replace Petty and or Turner next round.

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
