It's pretty bad but there is a part of me that wants us to be smashed so we do something.

But then I don't think there is anything we can do.

Our list is in disarray.

We have McAdam, Bbb and Schache on our list.

My only hope is that Half of the coaching staff is changed. The 2022-2023 plan feels tired and ineffective in the current AFL.

I am feeling very down for next week, poor Gus I hope he doesn't have to witness some rubbish like this on KB.

U think it’s the mids? Today has been contest in general not just the mids imho I mean seeing O‘meara be made to look like Ablett hurts but I’m not sure it’s all mids we’ve just been off our game completely trying to be some sort of cutting kick team which we’re not.. it’s certainly just very strange we’re at sea without a boat let alone a paddle!!!

No it's a collective as a whole.

But it's starts in the coalface and we've been absolutely smashed with barely any clean forward entries.

Switched it off after that last goal... I'm going to go do some work...

This is worse than the eagles game.  Freo came to play and we didn't except for a couple of players. No hard running and supporting teammates, so Freo can easily have an out option and move the ball.

No miracle comeback in this one.

Getting smashed and people are blaming the umpires? Come on.
First to the ball = first to the free.

When decisions like HTB are paid one way we have every right to talk about it. Would never happen to Pies or Blues.

If the entire team doesn’t have Covid or explosive diarrhea, then I have no idea what is the possible excuse for this embarrassing performance

Wait for the 'learnings' rubbish at the press conference.

But this takes away from the real issue. The ****ty umpires will never change.

In any good club, players are very mindful of the pressure to perform.

Simply if they don't perform they have to play in the twos.

Since we stopped recruiting and let some good players leave we don't have enough players in the twos for such pressure to exist.

So we get sloppy efforts from players who know they will get a game regardless.

We need a rebuild I'm afraid.

And the reality of that means a few great players of today won't see another flag.

New ideas are needed to keep pushing the side forward.  Yze bought in new ideas that had impact and success.  His replacement doesn't seem to had the same impact.  We need to go and find a high quality senior assistant to challenge Goodwin and push the team.

The only positive about today is Uncle Bitters not trekking to the red center!

The problem is Goodwin never gives this side a bake. I know it's going back to old school & nobody does that these days but sometimes they need a rocket.

Other coaches still do it

He's bestie with most of the players, specially the leadership group. How can we expect him to apply some accountability?

I do realise I could not play football at much of a level, and I remember winning 1 game in two years.
but McAdam, Petty Turner need not turn up for training

I can see only Viney, AnB ,Kozzy perhaps and perhaps again Tomlinson care at all

that’s my perception. Watching on the TV

North will have their first win against us.

Mark it down.

I think some peeps have been a bit spoiled.. I wish I could make it so that when you jump-off this quickly you can’t enjoy the high-rides but I know where you’re coming from and would’ve once felt similar but this is a perfect day for a team that’s choc-full of confidence and we’re barely there! Maybe this is a butt-smashing we need?

No reason it can’t be.. I choose to keep faith, everything’s going right for them and it’s evident they’re chasing in. I can’t smash a team that’s given me so much resounding reasons to trust them.. I mean look at that Serong Goal for goodness sake off back if DARCY lucky goal and Frederick boundary goal, that’s just bananas & good on em!

We’ll bounce back next week.. you don’t lose ability overnight for goodness sake!

Harden up ppl, it’s a crappy day — move fwd.

LIVE AND LET DIE by Meggs

The Demons’ impressive late season charge to finals will most likely come unstuck this Saturday evening when the Bombers blow up the also-ran Blues in the Ikon Park double-header.   To mangle McCartney, what does it matter to ya? To have any chance to play next week Narrm has got a job to do and needs to do it well.  We’ve got to give the Pie sheilas hell, say live and let die! It’s Indigenous Round for this game and the chance to celebrate and engage with Aboriginal and Torres

Failed to fulfill the promise of his breakout six goal effort against the Tigers in 2023 and was generally disappointing as a key forward. It remains to be seen whether Simon Goodwin will persevere with him in attack or return him to the backline where he was an important cog in the club’s 2021 premiership success. After a bright start to the season, playing mostly in defence, Howes seemed to lose his way in midseason but fought back with some good performances at Casey and finished the year back at AFL level. Originally an NBL basketballer with the Brisbane Bullets, he moved across town in 2019 to the AFL Lions where he played 19 games before crossing to Melbourne where he was expected to fill a role as a back up ruckman/key forward. Sadly, had to wrap up a great career in midstream on the back of multiple concussions which culminated in the Maynard hit in the 2023 Qualifying Final. His loss to the club was inestimable over and above his on field talent given his character and leadership qualities, all of which have been sorely missed. The son of former Demon Brownlow Medalist Shane, Taj added a further 16 games to his overall tally of games but a number were as substitute. He is slowly fitting into the team structure but without doing anything spectacular and needs to take further steps forward in 2025 for his career to progress.
