Ouch, that Roo injury is a real nut shot...😉

All our FWD hopes for this week are resting on Petty's shoulders... 😬

Might have to bring the BBB back in

Hopefully no other changes … please no to Billings no no no

Turner will come in for Roo.
Ben Brown is really struggling to move out there. Adding a flight to the mix is not going to make him any better.
Petty will have to help Max in the ruck.

Felt some minor discomfort in his adductor at training today according to Richo. They expect JvR to be available next week.

So 4-2-6 😒

And Turner.  And Fritsch.  And Pickett.  And McAdam.  And Petracca.  And Chandler.  And so on.

Please, please! No Brown, no Billings.

Turner in for roo.

I think you're right.  Though I also think goody would pick 23 Backmen of he could 😓

You guys are right on this.

Petty to miss (i love him as a player)

JVR is fit to play.

Salem, Pickett in the middle to help Tracc and Viney.

Gawn is a giant, the more we see of him playing and less in the media is our fortune.

A key out and a key in that hurts our chances this game.

No Roo, and umpire #22 Williamson is officiating (has no idea how to properly umpire a game, especially when the Dees are involved).

Freo have gotten the better of us the last two times, but I'd like to know why, aside from Freo being up and about for an MCG challenge,

In 2022 May went off with concussion at quarter time which threw our structure out the door as Rory Lobb of all people got the better of us.

In 2023 we went small and and forced Lever to play tall against the likes of Amiss, Tracey and Jackson and it backfired as per usual when we've gone in with a small defence.

Other than that, can anyone think what they've had over us from a tactical point of view.

They came out firing. Refused to kick long to Lever, May went off early from memory.

Dirty ball into our fwd 50 where we struggle to stop it and rebound.

Expect no different this time.

We need a first qtr as intensive as last game. But with better kicking. Freo have never played this ground so hopefully that gives us an edge.

I would think that one of Brown or Turner on the IC along with Sparrow, Hunter, McVee and Woewodin and Laurie as Sub.

I would go with Turner as a forward rather than Brown.

Out:  JVR

In:  Clark KENT field

Not tactics - just the ‘L’ word - or intensity of training volume and density. 👊🥩💥

And from a tactical perspective freo looked to exacerbate our increased intensity of training volume and density (my new, less triggering phrase) by speading, switching and make us chase tail all game.

May and Petty were both out in that game. We were very unlucky that night.

It was a game where a series of things needed to go right for Freo and they scored a royal flush

You're not giving Goody enough credit.

He built our brand of smashing teams in the middle and from building arguably the best midfield in the comp.

We've since changed our game style in the Chris Scott mould being less reliant on stoppage. Collingwood are the same.

Sure, defence is a cornerstone of our game, but the idea that we don't focus on contest right across the ground is a bit of a fantasy.

Turner is 2cm taller than Van Rooyen. He will have a crack in the ruck.

jvr with the media curse - was fantastic on 3aw earlier this week

nek minnit...

Link to the interview? 🙏🏻

I don't  bet of follow odds, but I winder if there has been any change since news that

(A) JVR is out and

(B) 22 is umpiring.

Stats gurus - do we have data on win / loss ratio when that biased #22 is umpiring our games compared to when he is not?

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
