This is bottom four material. Being completely out coached. Absolutely no system going forward yet Saints look dangerous on the rebound. So many poor players. Oliver by and far is a pale imitation of the player he was. Petty need to go.

Tomlinson has clearly decided this stretch without Lever is has last chance to prove his AFL credentials.

At half time leads all on the ground for;

Intercepts, metres gained, 1%ers, disposals, conteseted posessions, and contested marks.

Not pitching a shut-out defensively but has been very effective.

Where does he fit when Lever is available again? Competing with McDonald or competing for a Hibberd-style role with a few of the younger and shorter guys?

What a frustrating game we play.

We were dominated in the middle that qtr.

Steele, Sinclair and Dow all 10+ disposals that qtr.

1 disposal from Viney

3 disposals from Trac.

Same old story this year where our mids just aren’t getting enough.

Double the inside 50’s and shots on goal against a terrible defence

good job all!!

🙄

What are we going to do about Jvr and Petty?

It's not Bbb either.

I'm afraid this season is a bust with our current tall fwds. They just can't kick goals. Petty has kicked two goals in nine games now and only once has been a marking connection against Geelong.

Surely we try Tmac or Tommo soon. They are strong and can hold a mark.

This game is frustrating to watch. We are clearly a better team, but we are not playing like it.

Poor Thommo.

Seems to happen all the time, comes in, performs, then gets the old heave ho a few weeks later from Goody.

Good on him for hanging around

Kelli's voice is synching up well with the annoying nature of this game.

Chin isn’t the smartest footballer going around. Needs to stay composed and have some peripheral vision.

Agreed.  Not the greatest awareness / vision.

He's a quick player across the ground & a good scrapper at ground level.

Panics with his disposal far too often and generally only looks straight ahead, even when players are running alongside laterally or coming from behind as an inside corridor option.

Consider subbing him for Woe from here.

Push Tracc up forward for more minutes and bring ANB into the middle during those periods to utilise his kicking accuracy coming inside 50.

Tackling intent much better than last week. I suspect they are burning from the Reid fend offs

We're not though. It's not 2021 anymore. We need to accept where we are.

In a good way, you mean?

Yes, absolutely

2nd Q’s are our worst

we need to kick 3-4 early or this will be an arm wrestle right to the end

Quarters like that kill any joy I get as a supporter and spectator.

Rubbish game of footy

Most games are that involve Ross Lyon.

We are a first class looking outfit, pity we are playing an economy class style of football………for Plummet Airlines. 😞

Oliver and tracs caps maybe fitting a little tight these days

Yep. Sad but true. I mean we are still in the mix but a fair way from the top.

I look at the Casey team and wonder who else we can play but it's not too exciting unfortunately.

Maybe Milk back soon will help but I can't see who is forcing Goody's hand to get a game.

Our midfield started well today but that was a miserable second quarter with Tracca, Oliver and JV with a total of 29 touches combined.

Is Sparrow playing a tag role?  Haven't seen him. I mean we ain't Gunna win a game of Tracca, Oliver and JV all have 20 disposals each.

Anb can hold his head up as can Tommo and Rivers and Salo.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
