NON-MFC: Round 11

Recommended Posts

The deliberate out of bounds paid late in the 2nd qtr against Freo just highlights how much trouble our game is in. The umpiring across all games that I’ve watched this season is by far the worst I’ve seen. I honestly ask myself is there an agenda.

Then the love for a nineteenth and possible twentieth team just blows me away. Some will argue last weeks result of the Eagles beating us shows how even the competition is.

Just then a soft free against Moore.

But in reality we know that’s not the case. After last weeks loss many on here bemoaning our lack of depth are all for two more teams, go figure….

Finally the tribunal, enough said.

The game is fast losing its way, we don’t want to believe it because of our love for it, but sadly the powers that be can’t be told and we will cop what ever is served up.

Freo are very slick by hand and foot but over use the handball which sees them get caught in their back half a little too often.

They also make a fair few rookie & basic mistakes both with choices and clangers.

The Pies use their feet to kick / toe poke the loose ground ball away from oppo alot, attempting to move it forward or towards safety of boundary.

Deny and disrupt.

This is really annoying me. Collingwood have the grit to fight out these wins. Not sure we have the same

Horrible game of footy, but game going to script. Freo keeping pressure on, lots of tackling and stoppages, keeping Pies at bay. Pies slowly pulling away due to Freo over using/abusing handball.

Papley's over celebrating, Draper's ridiculous hair cut, commentators drooling over all things Daicos: all these things are annoying, frustrating and rage-inducing. But Maynard . . . this pretend tough guy is in a class of his own. Surely footy gods/karma/reap what you sow has to see him cop his right whack some time soon.

Looks like a Pies template game. Close score, they will kick 2-3 goals in red time to win. Again.

Darcy's competitive in the ruck but that's about where it ends.  Super slow to react & dispose and his HBs are generally pretty shizen

They are woeful by hand, and decision making is as bad as us.

You know what Collingwood do well. Sticking their tackles. They rarely miss.

The scary thing is they have so many good players out but are still winning.  It makes you sick.

Yep.  The whole team has white line fever.  It's 100% pressure / urgency then go go go on the turnover.

Cameron's also a decent ruck and VG overhead mark.  I think i heard somewhere he's one of the best intercept marks behind play also?

The game appears to have gone past Fyfe now 😬

    MORE FIERCE by Meggs

We’re back!  Winning the last three matches has recaptured our Demon spirit and, with superstar players returning from rehab, our Season 2024 dreams are not over yet.   So come along 5.05 pm Saturday afternoon to watch this Round 9 ladder-defining match at the Field of Dreams. Expect the Tigers to be fierce, but surely the Demons will be more fierce. Playing conditions are expected to be a dry 15 degrees with a typically gusty Cranbourne wind. The media opprobrium of the ill-consi

    IN FRONT by Meggs

In this must-win clash between Melbourne 11th on the ladder and St Kilda 8th, it was the Demons who were in front all day to win in a hard-fought Round 8 clash to make it three in a row to keep theit slim finals chances alive. A good crowd of enthusiastic footy families for week 2 of Pride Round had gathered.  The full pews in the well-appointed RSEA Park grandstand provided excellent viewing.   The Saints won the toss and elected to kick to the southern end favoured by a strong 2-3 g

    THE TRADING CHRONICLES 02

Part 2: Watching grass grow by Whispering Jack Critics of test cricket (and I’m not one of them) will often claim the sport is excruciatingly boring: that following a five day match is much like watching grass grow. However, the longest form of that game has nothing on the first week of the AFL trade period when it comes to inducing sleep among those in the football public who follows this process in its somnolent moments. The week gone by has been no exception. Only two player trades

    THE CAVALRY ARRIVES by Meggs

The injury plague which has beset the Demons 2024 campaign is finally starting to dissipate and with consecutive wins over GWS Giants and a 2-point nail-biter in Adelade, a sense of optimism is rising.  Some commentators are now asking whether the Dees can make finals? A huge surprise with team selection this week when it was announced that champs Olivia Purcell, Paxy Paxman and Eden Zanker would play.   Hallelujah!  The cavalry has arrived. St Kilda missed the finals last season on pe

    GOLDIE'S METTLE by Meggs

On a perfect night for football at the home of the Redlegs, Norwood Oval, it was the visiting underdogs Melbourne who led all night and hung on to prevail in a 2-point nail-biter. In the previous round St Kilda had made it a tough physical game to help restrict Adelaide from scoring and so Mick Stinear set a similar strategy for his team. To win it would require every player to do their bit on the field plus a little bit of luck.  Fifty game milestoner Sinead Goldrick epitomised
