I think we'll see Disco Turner in the side if not this week then very soon.

The footage of him turning the bloke on the mark inside out and kicking a goal suggests he knows he’s too good for VFL now.

I saw that. Disco’s got a lot more exposure to what we want from him, and has had a taste of AFL pressure. I think he’s going to be useful, and I believe the club is very pleased with his progress.

I think a stint up forward is right in this guy's wheelhouse.

Has Laurie ever been played in the seniors as a pure midfielder for a whole game? I feel that if Oliver doesn't play against Richmond maybe it's time to find out how Laurie goes in that role.

Not to my knowledge. Last year we used Jordon in the midfield and Laurie has only had one game at AFL level this year.

In 2023 Laurie did not play VFL as a midfielder as we had Dunstan at VFL level. Might have played as an outside mid/wing at VFL level.

From my watching LDC sadly I think he is one of those players who is too good for VFL and NQR at AFL level. We will know by the end of this year.

Not wing that i can recall.  Def in the middle for a fair amount of time in 23.  Same vs Port over the weekend.

Welcome back Mr Old.

Yes that's my assessment to date also.

At VFL level he has a tendancy for a few too many basic turnovers and  second to the ball a fair bit if my memory serves me.correctly.

As you say he has plenty of time ahead  to prove that he has what it takes though.

Sounds like he might get a call up for Clarry for Anzac eve.  Will be an interesting watch if he does.

Why is everyone assuming Clayton doesn’t play? Has that actually been spoken about anywhere?

There haven’t been many games we have stuffed up over the last 4 years when overwhelming favourites. I wouldn’t say it’s ‘exactly’ the type of game we lose.

Other than BBB who I think would benefit from a longer break and the compulsory in for Salem and the return of Picket I'd like to see the team settle. Fullarton in for the week to take 50% ruck and to give JVR some more forward time. Max to be used more sparingly.

Correct, tick, no wuz.

Now Disco needs the opportunities, albeit with some interim patience; he could well prove to be a very clean player in the senior team given glimpses of form and ability. I wish the lad well; it is hoped his confidence and endeavour take a leap into regular selection, starting this year.

In an extremely tight circle of mates, up-wind.

Already made that joke

It, ah, didn’t go anywhere

And the issue with Brown and Petty is not just a last night thing. The lack of pressure from Brown, Petty, JVR and Fritsch means we can only play three IMO.

I disagree. If Kozzy plays, his pace makes our front half a completely different proposition.

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.
