Agree SWYL it was nice to see him walking the full length of AO with Goody and Max on Thursday night and then in the rooms talking casually with the players, he’s doing a great job.

He certainly knows what he is doing, Burgess set a very high standard, and Selwyn was there to see it.
It’s Roadtrips like this that prove to players why the hard work is so strenuous

2 games in 5 days is an incredible amount of  hard contact

Noticed a friendly fist bump between SG and CO with genuine smiles on both faces that was good to see post match.

He is a crucial part of the team that has kept us up there in the top 4 , 3 and a half seasons in a row

The best "on the road trip" results I can ever remember. Incredibly difficult challenge with the 5 day break and our boys did us , and themselves proud. They were totally shagged in the last quarter v Crows but ran it out. Incredibly clever tactics in the 3rd quarter to put the hammer down and put us in a winning position while they still had the legs. The "Burgess fitness effect" was very noticeable at the Crows last year, not so much this year so far. Very grateful that Selwyn was able to learn from him while he was still at Melbourne. This is one tough football team. Getting vibes of '21 in how galvanised they have become amid all the very loud external noise.

A professional outfit our Demons from the Pres to the boot studder. It's never perfect, hasn't ever been perfect anywhere, but you can see the efforts they make to be connected to each other and the fans.

Definitely agree with others that the players look to be enjoying their footy more as a group so far this year. They've put a crushing September behind them, lost a solider in Angus in outrageous circumstances and been battered pillar to post by the media but they will not yield.

Win, lose or draw they've earned respect.

Burgess was the single most influential figure to our flag IMO (I know this is highly debatale). However it would appear Selwyn has done a very good job with how seamless the transition has been. We were a bit flat in the back half of 2022 but otherwise we are still pretty healthy, avoid soft tissues injuries as good as any club can, and we are still last quarter beasts most weeks.

Was pleased to see Trac was giving him praise in a post-match interview on Fox.

Trac looked very sore and stiff after the Port game and by reports carried over the next day or two. I think there were even doubts over availability for a second there.

For him to get up and be easily best player on ground running out the game so well is credit to himself, Selwyn and the rest of the medical/high performance team.

Great point. I had forgotten how banged up tracc was.

He was interviewed on the ground at half time and was struggling to catch his breath (he must he must have just sprinted or something, but still he looked completely knackered).

An amazing performance from tracc - BOG and hard at it all hame

Credit to Selwyn and his team, but huge props to tracc for being in such good shape. Ditto for maxy, who was also huge.

Outof interest, does anyone know aprox how far EPL players would run in a game?

Ummmm! 😀

Between 8 and 12 km depending on the position they play. Average midfielder runs about 11km a game.

Ta.

That's more than I would have guessed in 90 odd minutes of game time.

It's Game Day and the Demons are once again faced with a classic 8 point game against a traditional rival on King's Birthday at the MCG. A famous victory will see them reclaim a place in the Top 8 whereas a loss will be another blow for their finals credentials.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie
