You were right about Salo in the middle.

Can ask if you think playing defence is easier than forward? Tmac couldn't get near the ball in the two finals but looked back to his best last round.

Is it easier to predict ball movement and hence get into position?

Backline is straight ahead.

Inside word is that Petty is definitely playing, but only for the first half of the game given his fitness levels.

At half-time, he's going to give his jumper to his doppelganger Jed Adams who will play the second half as a completely fresh player.

Only Mrs Petty and Mrs Adams will notice anything unusual.

Yeah I reckon Tmac struggles with his agility and sideways movement to be effective as a forward these days - backline better option for him now

We're now undefeated against Hawthorn over the last 6 years (7 wins and 1 draw in that period).

If you could go back in time to 2016 and tell a Melbourne fan that we were going to be unbeaten against Hawthorn for 6 years you would have been ridiculed. We lost 13 straight games across 10 years at one point there, and ended up losing 15 out of 16 games across 12 years.

Just don't let anyone near a tin of white paint, and everything will be 'Fine'.

Certainly hasn't the "moves like Jagger" more akin to the moves like Joe Biden.

Unless they cotton on of course

Totally agree .... but then someone selected Spargo in round 0 despite not having had a match sim, so who knows what the selectors will do.

Surely, the selection of Spargo in Round 0 was not a collective (of selectors') decisions? I reckon one person placed him into the teamlist - what'cha reckon?

I’d love to see Moniz -Wakefield get a run.
He was great last week for Casey.
Along with Windsor , and Billing’s , he is another that could add to our Run and skill level. Even as Sub for Woewodin

Could well be time to crack the egg - M-W has some needed attributes; who knows, he may have more inside a higher level of team support on the bigger stage. He'd be handy for those Frosty 'hand-over stuff-ups' upfield, for example.

Let's keep this going as long as possible!

If  Harry (Tom) Petty is ready to go he plays.

Stop draggin' my heart around.

Otherwise we could be Free Falling.

I Wont Back Down on this.

He plays until the End of the Line.

Are you sure he won’t just be A Face in the Crowd?

58er, I’ve done a lot of excellent posts, sure this was a good one but some of my early work was, dare I say it, groundbreaking.

Well done then congrats. Roost it.

Question is, given that debuting as a sub isn’t kosher, whom will he replace?   Emergency would offer him recognition, though I can’t see him playing.

I wouldn’t want him to Breakdown, again

Petty to be the sub surely.

- Nice way to ease him back in without a full match load

- Puts a bit of pressure on JVR and Brown to perform

- Flexibility if a key back goes down

- Rests both Petty and whichever tall he subs off for a lighter game load ahead of a hectic Adelaide schedule in the coming weeks

Welcome back Petts.

Maybe Hore the sub.

Tall side, hopefully works well on a dry day at the MCG…can see the reasoning Petty is too good to leave stuck in the VFL

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.
