Feel for Brayshaw and obviously it's been a loss for us not having him.

But the obsession with Maynard and Collingwood is in my opinion the cringiest thing imaginable. To me, if the incident was actually the thuggish act that Melb supporters seem to feel it was, then it was only marginally that. Brayshaw obviously had a rough history with head knocks and was in the wrong spot at the wrong time.

Collingwood may injure more people but reality is they play the game harder than we do. It's one thing for our fans to be outraged and breathing fire at the prospect of responding to the Pies, but when our players come out with relatively meek physicality every time they match up you start to realise our players mustn't feel as strongly about it as the fans do.

If we want to focus any attention on Collingwood or Maynard, it should be to study how they are able to compete harder than our players for longer than our players.

    Im pretty sure you havd had to play over 200 games, because i remember years ago fevola complained about him not getting a go in it & someone said it's because he didn't get to 200.

    Collingwood only make finals in seasons where Maynard hospitalises an opponent with a head injury.

    This statement stands true since pre-covid times.

    No offense taken. Just my opinion. If you honestly think that year in year out, week in week out, when the MFC take the field they appear as desperate to win as the Pies generally do then that's great. You likely enjoy watching us play much more than I do.

    I also reckon if you surveyed other neutral supporters they'd probably agree that in general MFC players are a tad soft and we're a club that prefers to find and excuse than to find a way.. while Collingwood are not.

    It's not about the club offering him anything.
    That offer to assist has been there since day dot.
    He can't even have a round of golf or enjoy a night at the Brownlow with some of his best mates.
    It's incredibly sad.
    Lot's of love to Gus and his family.
    I hope he finds his health and his groove again.

    It's been a huge loss. It was crushing on the night it happened and it still seems to be very hard for his team mates.

    It looked like Gawn was very upset at the Brownlow during his speech.

    Anyways, time to listen to the wisdom and insight of Selwood, Hamish and BT on Seven.

    I would be quite happy if our players wanted his blood...or wanted 'revenge' against Collingwood or even just wanted to physically smash Collingwood in a match just because they're an opponent who always make us look weak. But our players don't ever seem too fussed about it so no point in us getting riled up.

    While I don't agree with all you have said, it will really be a litmus test next year when we eventually face Collingwood.

    I will know everything I need to know about the team and if they are fair dinkum aiming for the big prize, and as a by-product, how much they care for their coach (or if the coach can still motivate this list).

    Thanks for calling upon my expertise Goffy, however, in this instance I can be of scant assistance.

    You might note though, that in a quite controversial story about a fellow named Portnoy, the eponymous hero performed a rather nasty act on the family dinner. 

    I will leave further investigation in your hands.

    So, given the payout clauses, couldn’t we renegotiate his contract for 3 years + options for additional years on games played?  We then get around the cap bs which is coming in a few years…He ain’t going to honour any contract now, anyway…..

    Yeah this seems like a massive loophole. Oh you're on a backended contract and you need to medically retire. Let's just flip that around so the year we get 90% outside of the cap is eating up the bulk of that.

      A month is a long time in AFL football. The proof of this is in the current state of the two teams contesting against each other early this Saturday afternoon at the MCG. It’s hard to fathom that when Melbourne and Fremantle kicked off the 2025 season, the former looked like being a major player in this year’s competition after it came close to beating one of the favourites in the GWS Giants while the latter was smashed by Geelong to the tune of 78 points and looked like rubbish. Fast forward to today and the Demons are low on confidence and appear panic stricken as their winless streak heads towards an even half dozen and pressure mounts on the coach and team leadership.  Meanwhile, the Dockers have recovered their composure and now sit in the top eight. They are definitely on the up and up and look most likely winners this weekend against a team which they have recently dominated and which struggles to find enough passages to the goals to trouble the scorers. And with that, Fremantle will head to the MCG, feeling very good about itself after demolishing Richmond in the Barossa Valley with Josh Treacy coming off a six goal haul and facing up to a Melbourne defence already without Jake Lever and a shaky Steven May needing to pass a fitness test just to make it onto the field of play.

      The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old side—the Tigers—coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder.       What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around.It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
