Yeah I hate to say it but by all training videos and photos the high arc/ball drop remains his style of kicking. I don't think that's going to change unfortunately. It would be quite a big adjustment as Sue says for an engrained natural kicking style his whole career to suddenly change it now consistently.

And I guess they do not have big Max in there either, I really think he will lead from the front this year.  The rucking rule change should suit him and I think he will emulate the great Big Jimma.  And win it  even go one better and be Captain of the Premiers.    I see absolutely no reason otherwise. We were so close last year, even with a decimated Forward setup.

We only missed against the Pies by a bees Richard.  And whoever won that match was set up for the GF.   And it should have been us.

I thought it was great to hear him speak the truth.

The only thing I'd disagree with is the "there's always next year" quote.

That will not be the case for some of our older players and we're in a special competitive space right now that won't last too much longer.

Think you’ve taken that remark out of context. I read it as ..yes we didn’t win but there is always next year ..meaning we get another opportunity..it’s not like we lost & there’s no tomorrow. I also gleaned from that podcast that yes.. the players absolutely know what is being said about the team & thankfully have a far more positive attitude than a lot of our posters .

We can only support the boys and they do try vèry hard but they have run out of fit guys still on the park in ‘22 and last season the forward line was decimated and our replacements didn’t take their chances.

We can with more options this year and greater skill together makeup for our disappointments, as long as we have enough soldiers to go into the heat of the battle.

IMO, the best bit was when he spoke about leadership. He said words to the effect of how he, and maybe our other leaders, have seen leadership as requiring them to put the team on their shoulders when under pressure needing to win a game. 

He said what they have needed to learn to do is to maintain the system, to not deviate. Dyl then said that was a hallmark of Hawthorn under Hodge, who was great at sticking to the Hawks’ method when under pressure. 

How often do we see Trac or Lever take a risky kick, or Gawn belt it a mile forward from a ruck contest, or Viney try to take all the tacklers on, etc. Collingwood, hate them or not, are exceptional at sticking to their plans whether it’s the first minute or the final minute in a 1-point game. I like that Trac has recognised this.

Hook-foot curvers; not the best sight in execution and then, the result. A few have the habit and have owned it as their 'style' so often, yet they deliver better and split the sticks better when conventional drop-put efforts are made. The Melk, is a natural hooker and is made less reliable at the goals, for example, because of it. His record could well be doubled for goals kicked using a more standard, less variable kicking action - it's ok for short passing but that is all. Tracca has adopted the style, too, and so has ANB and Chandler. The latter has demonstrated better and more reliable accuracy with conventional efforts.

You couldn't have nailed this any more, i don't think 2023 Collingwood was an especially great team by any measure, but geez they're well coached and they just win the big moments because they obviously drill those into the players. 

in both finals guys tried to rip the game away from opposition when we didn't need to, we had dominance for long periods in both games, we just needed to hold our nerves.

If there's one thing that really annoyed me on Sunday was Traccs now habit of high ball drop and exaggerated arc which resulted in yet another piont. I would suggest he shuts up about pressure when clearly his goal kicking is sub par and crumbly and work on this worrying aspect!

I personally think this is garbage. The hallmark of the 2021 team was system but with flair. We were still coming into our understanding of the system at the time, so we deviated from it when the time felt right. Bang bang bang wasn't the system, it was "no stuff this we're going to smash them while we have the momentum."

I think the dees team is TOO dependent on the system. We need to free ourselves up to play on instinct. Instinct is the fastest way to do anything. Lean into it more and the opposition will not be able to counteract the speed of those instinctual decisions.
