Windsor wonโ€™t be playing a game until he shaves those sideburns!

Appreciate all the detailed reports here.ย  Thanks to PF, Brennon, WCW & anyone else i might have missed.

Just to confirm, Maysie left the track after 20 min or so yes?ย  If so that is a real concern.

Might be best to put him in cotton wool for a while, fully assess and go from there?

Last thing we need is May breaking down with a nagging niggle throughout the season.

No Petty, May and/or Clarry early would be a real bummer.

JV came off limping earlier in the week and was back in that match sim clip dominating. Probably best to just wait see what happens ...

Caleb Windsor looks to be the exact type of player we need through the middle.

Thatโ€™s why he stood out in the film highlights weeks in advance as to his style of game and our needs.

Our Guru JT didnโ€™t muck around with Curtin ( who I still would have loved) but Caleb (The Duke) Windsor looks just fine from the recent reports.

So pleased with the overall reports from yesterday by all the track representatives on his form. He is coming along fine. Which wing Warne Stand or MCC Members ? ย And Lingers he will make a comeback to his best. He is too good and proud not to.ย

riv, jacko, kosi - rd 1 from their debut season?

they were picked from the get go from memory

Yes 2019 draft were but Bowser debut was Round 20 vs GC and played the last 7 games inc. 3 Finals in 2021 in that magical run we will never forget.ย

For the track watcher at the match sim, were there Casey players filling the gaps? They were there 2 weeks ago, but if not this week, then it is unrealistic to take much away if it is just 14 on 14 as was the case last Wed at ย training..ย
Without the pressure of another 8 players filling gaps, and without the physical contact, conclusions about abilities are a bit spurious. Looks good though.

If disco can get more games, would suit our structure. If we were desperate, wouldn't be beyond putting May forward.ย

May was drafted as a forward, iirc

Honestly I can see a version of events where Schache plays a lot this year. I have always been critical of his contest and mongrel and can't see that changing - and he could maybe be a liability in a final for that reason.ย

But he has the height, skills and goal kicking ability our forward line needs. He's not a small body. He can chop out max reasonably well and is a good field kick whilst he plays ruck.ย

If Petty spends the year injured and in/out of the side, I can see JVR being the bash crash forward and Schache being the more skilful one. They play together pretty well at Casey. Could happen imo....

Well yes, Schache could end up playing due to the 2 sweetest words in the English language.

Schache should have been on the ground instead of Tmac in the finals full stop.

The Shack attack is not in the same ruck class as Grundy, but he aint bad! He is better and more agile around the ground and can take a forward pack mark which, I have seen him do and so for those reasons is in the STARTING 22 round Zero and if he blossoms with confidence he is a better replacement than Grundy and maybe Jackson ๐Ÿ˜

I love the enthusiasm for new inclusions but I suggest, with respect, that any time we nominate a new face we also have to say who this new player will displace. Otherwise it looks like we'll have about 22 players on the field for Round 1, which would be handy but I suspect might be objected to.

Windsor - Hunter (inj)
Billings - Oliverย
McAdam - Pickett (susp)
maybe Schache - every other tall injured

Howes, Woey, Laurie and Tholstrup are all in with a chance too.ย

But thereโ€™s probably going to be 3 fresh (or fresh-ish) faces in the side given 3 likely missing and a fresh group of players fighting for the spots.

The two words I like seeing in the same sentence are โ€˜Oliverโ€™ and โ€˜trainingโ€™.

He'll come back into the side and will prove his detractors wrong - he'll dominate

Well clearly Goody disagrees with you.

Goody didnโ€™t even see him as replacement for a terribly performing Tom Mac.

2nd Melb preseason..you never know.. so letโ€™s see how much heโ€™s improved before we write him off. Lot of water /training etc has gone โ€œunder the bridgeโ€ since season 2023ย

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecastโ€”20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze โ€” expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kateโ€™s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwoodโ€™s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isnโ€™t a standard conceptโ€”itโ€™s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking. ย We filled our boots with percentage โ€” now a whopping 520.7% โ€” and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourneโ€™s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasnโ€™t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's ย six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his teamโ€™s unfulfilled potential rang true โ€ฆ well, almost.ย
