2024 Injury List

Wow Turner has made a very quick recovery. I thought he had a leg injury not a hip injury? Either way, it's good news if he's only one week away as he covers the loss of Hore.

I am sure he will have to spend some time with Casey, but it's good news anyway.

Also is McAdams just permanently stuck on 2-4 weeks? Are they generating a new hamstring for him in a lab or what?

McAdam has come in from 3-5 to 2-4. Baby steps.

Spargo’s stuck at 2-4 though.

Last week he was 3-5 weeks so there's some movement.

He'll need a couple of weeks at Casey so he's still a way off

"Shane McAdam continues to work through a hamstring injury, taking positive steps forward re-joining the main group.

“Shane is beginning to integrate into training with the team,” Griffith said.

“He’ll continue to train with the group as we build him into being available for selection in the coming weeks.”"

Is it worth trialling Tommo as a fwd at Casey.

The defenders Tmac and Petty have done alright forward.

I'm just thinking if a tall defender like Tmac needs games off then Petty goes back.

If Bbbs is injured we are back with Schache.

It would be nice to know if he can at least do it and not unrealistic about Tmac and Bbb. ( I so hope they will be ok).

I  think the Port game was the best game in two years for the two of them.

LITB

You have hit the answer right there if you leave Petty at FF.

Why move him for Tmac or Tommo or Schache. He will kick goals very soon as he is too good a player not too.

Only move him back for any cameos or if either May or lever are missed greatly.

Also Disco is available next round for Casey return.

If it ain’t broke don’t try and fix it.

Sorry 58 er you really confuse me.

I try to be patient.

I want Petty at Ff.

I'm not talking about changing anything

I'm suggesting we trial Tommo for multiple replacement roles in case something happens to Tmac or Bbb which is quite likely. I suggest this because I'm not sure Schache is up for much.

The depth player such as Laurie, Tomlinson etc should definitely be exposed to other positions at VFL level.

The reality of the modern squad is that you can't cover every position and develop players.

Can Tomlinson play forward. Probably not but worth looking at. He did play wing IIRC at GWS in a rather good side.

Laurie on the other hand is a perfect candidate for multiple roles. Could he have filled the Bowey role for example?

I’m convinced Shane McAdams is growing a new hamstring in a lab

What sort of shocking condition did he come in from Adelaide where he was managed by Burgess?

Bowey is now nearly 5 weeks from when he did his shoulder. An 8 week injury they said....

Yet he's still 5-6 weeks away?

Great news that Disco is back. Reckon he’s got a big future.

Poor bugger has never had an injury free run.

Prior to the season he would have been next in line - now the resurrection of TMc and the reemergence of Hore has him way back in the queue

Good luck Disco.

Injury Report | Defender Set for Return

Check out Melbourne's latest injury report ahead of Round 5.

Looking forward to Daniel Turner’s return.

There isn't a spot for Turner, but he'll be good depth.

LIVE AND LET DIE by Meggs

The Demons’ impressive late season charge to finals will most likely come unstuck this Saturday evening when the Bombers blow up the also-ran Blues in the Ikon Park double-header.   To mangle McCartney, what does it matter to ya? To have any chance to play next week Narrm has got a job to do and needs to do it well.  We’ve got to give the Pie sheilas hell, say live and let die! It’s Indigenous Round for this game and the chance to celebrate and engage with Aboriginal and Torres

Had to shoulder more responsibility as the club’s injury concerns deepened but needs to step up more as he closes in on 100 games. Date of Birth: 31 May 2000 Height: 186cm Games MFC 2024: 21 Career Total: 95 Goals MFC 2024: 6 Career Total: 34 Games CDFC: 1 Goals CDFL: 0

2024 Player Reviews: #35 Harry Petty

Failed to fulfill the promise of his breakout six goal effort against the Tigers in 2023 and was generally disappointing as a key forward. It remains to be seen whether Simon Goodwin will persevere with him in attack or return him to the backline where he was an important cog in the club’s 2021 premiership success. 2024 Player Reviews: #22 Blake Howes

After a bright start to the season, playing mostly in defence, Howes seemed to lose his way in midseason but fought back with some good performances at Casey and finished the year back at AFL level. One to watch in 2024. Date of Birth: 7 March 2003 Height: 191cm Games MFC 2024: 15 Career Total:  15 Goals MFC 2024: 0 Career Total:  0 Games CDFC 2024: 6 Goals CDFC 2024: 0

Originally an NBL basketballer with the Brisbane Bullets, he moved across town in 2019 to the AFL Lions where he played 19 games before crossing to Melbourne where he was expected to fill a role as a back up ruckman/key forward. Unfortunately, didn’t quite get there although he did finish equal sixth in Casey’s best and fairest award. Date of Birth: 23 February 1999 Height: 198cm Games CDFC: 14 Goals CDFL: 13

2024 Player Reviews: #10 Angus Brayshaw

Sadly, had to wrap up a great career in midstream on the back of multiple concussions which culminated in the Maynard hit in the 2023 Qualifying Final. His loss to the club was inestimable over and above his on field talent given his character and leadership qualities, all of which have been sorely missed. 2024 Player Reviews: #40 Taj Woewodin

The son of former Demon Brownlow Medalist Shane, Taj added a further 16 games to his overall tally of games but a number were as substitute. He is slowly fitting into the team structure but without doing anything spectacular and needs to take further steps forward in 2025 for his career to progress. 2024 Player Reviews: #16 Bailey Laurie

The clever small was unable to cement a place in the Melbourne midfield and spent most of his time this year with the Casey Demons where he finished equal fourth in its best & fairest. As a consequence, he was never able to perform consistently or at anywhere near his previous levels.  Date of Birth: 12 September 2002 Height: 175cm Games MFC 2024: 14 Career Total: 61 Goals MFC 2024: 0 Career Total: 6
