Replace NBA with AFL.
Sixers with Melbourne.
Heat with Collingwood, Celtics with Carlton.

AFL is way more rigged.

We don't even have home and away games v every team. Teams never travel to certain locations & instead play them at their home venue (i.e. Collingwood to Geelong). It's beyond a joke.

One day it'll hit a point where a legal case will be made by a club or even a player arguing some form of 'restraint of trade' case, and it probably won't succeed but would be worth it for the documents required to be presented to court.

AFL Inc. is some kind of shady 'non-taxed but also not-a-not-for-profit for governance and oversight requirements' incorporated body so exactly what its legal scope for favouritism and the spoils system is unclear.

Suffice to say, if the AFL had been incorporated under the rules for not for profit organisations, there'd be a whole bunch of people facing civil and even criminal courts.

The Cripps suspension  followed by a AFL pardon and the Cripps Brownlow medal set the tone of hypocracy and corruption in 2023.

The disgraceful behaviour of the AFL ignoring the welfare of Brayshaw and rigging the tribunal so Maynard could play in the finals was the last straw for me.

Remember what MRO goon Michael Christian(pies player) blurted.

He basically threatened to resign if Maynard was suspended.

Christian  would have sent May straight to the tribunal and got 4-6 weeks if he had knocked out either of the Daicos bro's.

The AFL is definitely rigged not to mention all the money going in and out the rear door of GW$ Swans and Suns. Is the AFL ever audited or is it the same as the church and treated differently to the rest.

How much did Gil McLacklan pay himself every year?   5 million maybe more? Do the clubs have a say or are they too frightened to speak up.

CEO's are just employees.

Grossly overrated office clerks.

It's one thing to talk about it, but to have a player come out and acknowledge there is substance to it is a total other level. I don't know if anyone in AFL circles i.e. former past players have ever come out and said it though?

We could all see a number of Pies / Blues games during finals this year umpired differently and the media largely attribute it to the incompetence of umpires. It would take a disgruntled umpire to come out years after retirement to suggest there were larger forces at play.

The offield stuff i.e. Cripps, Maynard etc is a lot easier to influence and agree there is likely to be sort of manipulation from the headhonchos.

AFL is the most corrupt competition in the world bar none and FIFA is not a competition its an organisation.

But we still watch and wait for the fixtures to drop and buy our memberships.

Correct. So much gets manipulated for the maximisation of revenue. And vested interests.

I would say its combination of incompetence and arrogance. If the AFL was an international sport these cracks would be far more exposed.

AFL generates and has a lot of money where there is money there is self interest, manipulation, self enrichment and all the usual sins associated with greed. Salary cap manipulation, favoring clubs that have lots of supporters, throwing bones the the bottom clubs occasionally. its just business

The Crows debacle costing them a final says it all. The lack of outcry spoke volumes about the toeing the party line mentality.

If this issue didn't elicit a hard complaint by crows via legals then nothing will. Just an indigenous sport run by a club of second raters some might say.

The AFL is a for-profit business

It will always act in it's own interests to ensure that it maximises profits, therefore keeping things fair and equitable for all clubs has its limits

I'm still amazed that the Tassie team actually got up, but the cynic in me believes it was a concession made for some good public relations points and nothing more than that. As a business, a Tasmanian team makes no sense compared to another team in NSW.

I think it was too much but all CEOs pay themselves a royal ransom these days.

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
