I am happy with either trying to obtain pick #1 to draft Harley Reid or keeping our early round draft picks for other young talent.

It would be kinda funny if the Eagles chose the Demons over the Kangaroos in a "mega deal" just in spite. 🤣

Quite entertaining all of this.

However, I would personally prefer we keep our options open as there is still lots of other extremely gifted young footballers we can draft.

Such as....

● Zane Duursma

● Colby McKercher

● Ryley Sanders

● Nick Watson

● Nate Caddy

● Connor O'Sullivan

● Darcy Wilson

So lots of options and possibilities! 🤔

But time is now important.....we dont play draftees in their first year....the Roos rule

Cal and Riley speculating that Curtin is likely to get through to pick 6 which may open the possibility for us to trade up.

The danger is North who need KPP, but maybe they think O'Sullivan is the better option as a pure KPB rather than Curtain as a tall HBF/mid.

They're desperate for key position players yet seem intent on ignoring them, at least early on in the draft. There was an article about them looking to rookie a SA key backman that was previously rookie listed in 2019 with the swans. Toby Pink i think. With Logue out and McKay gone they will definitely need to shore up that part of the ground at some point.

If they don't burn all their late first rounders to move up for pick 1, I'd look for them trying to move up to draft O'Sullivan, Murphy or later take Zakostelsky or Dawson.

Tomlinson is available for a couple of years. Just played finals.

North have 2, 3, 15, 17, 18

Dees have 6, 11, Future 1st

Is 2 & 15 better than 6 & 11, I reckon it is, unless you really want Curtain and are super confident he gets to 6 and think 11 is much better than 15. Then Dees would throw in their Future 1st on top, which North probably wouldn't do because they may finish bottom 3 again next year. So they would have to match with another of those 1sts, and does WC think thats better than our future 1st?

I think North are still favourites for number 1, but I can now see why we might be a small chance. And maybe why we were so keen move our pick 14 up 3 spots.

We'll see, it's all guesswork

Dees will try get pick 7 or 8 using 11 + future first, then offer 6 and 7 (or 8) for pick one, West coast getting Curtin at 6 and another elite talent at 7 or 8 (Caddy osullivan) etc. That's a better offer than 2 and 15 (North) because if you're gonna take Curtin anyway, you'll be getting a much better player immediately after

Possible option. WC may prefer 11 and Future 1st rather than 7 or 8 on it's own.

I reckon we end up with it but not for a few weeks.

so you think WC hold the pick until draft night and do a live trade?  I was thinking the same, likely to get the Hail Mary pass from Nth or Melb at that point in time.

WC could do the same as when you're buying a house in Scotland and have sealed bids. Open them on draft night and the best bid wins.

It's just about impossible to see how we get this deal done without offering a player up now.

But surely if North want Reid (which they do) they can make it known that they will draft Curtin with pick 3.  On the one hand that could be overs... but given they already have a lot of talented midfielders and would be getting another at pick 2, a utility like Curtin would be a good fit for them.

If WCE believe North might take Curtin at 2/3, then surely its curtins on your proposal above?

Why would they believe that? North throwing away pick 2 on player bound to ask for a trade back West asap, it doesn't make any sense.

North are ahead of West Coast in their rebuild so will probably start rising up the ladder earlier.  If North truly believe Curtin is the best prospect at their next pick (which they prob don't) they should back their system in.

They have so many midfielders already... if they get the best midfielder at 2, surely it makes sense to look at Curtin / O'Sullivan / Caddy at 3 for team balance? (which is why we'd be a chance to trade up to 3 with 6 and 11 or whatever others are proposing).

Unless Curtin says he will absolutely leave the first chance he gets and being homesick will greatly affect his performance.

North cannot afford another JHF, it would be a disaster.

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
