Thanks a lot for your trouble much appreciated. Even mentioning the characters didn't mean much at all.

If I watched more than ONE episode of Seinfeld for 5 minutes that's about how much I have watched and of about a dozen American " comedies" in my 75 years. Others for eg. are Fraser Don't Tell Your Mother, another  with an actor who was named Earle etc.

A friend made me watch the LAST episode of Seinfeld about 25/30 years ago and it was a waste of time really.

Even though I have had Foxtel for 15 years I have never watched repeats of the American comedies.

I did watch "The Nanny" and liked that

I was into British comedies ie Fawlty Towers, Are You Being Served and Yes Minister with IMO far superior if vastly different comedy lines and topics. Much the same with Crime Shows also.

I thought there must have been a joke I didn't get or I would have taken umbrage with him.

Thanks again and Go Dees.

No worries 58.

I agree re Seinfeld.  It's hit and miss.

One episode can have moments of hilarity (for me) and another episode i might be lucky to chuckle once, if at all.  Even during episodes there are some moments but 90% of the rest can be very ho hum.

I guess this is true of many sitcoms.

I too am a massive Brit comedy fan.  Fawlty was fabulous, maybe a bit dated in some ways now.

Yes minister a classic.

Porridge might possibly be my all time fav.  For those who haven't seen it this is Ronnie Barker at his peak and probably his best comedy role imv.  Talk about brilliant.  Very much worth a squiz.

Open all hours (another Ronnie Barker special... the stutter always got me).

Rumpole was also one of my all time favs.  I even purchased a book or two i think.

Nanny not bad but can't handle the accent for long.

Becker is ok in patches.  Talk about a cynic & anti social.  Imagine having him as a doc!  But he actually does make some pretty poignant life anecdotes on occasions.  I actually like the young assistant in that.  She plays one of the great dumb comedy roles imv.

Doc Martin has its momemts.  Was lucky (or unlucky) enough to stay in the village this was shot in for 2 nights (Port Isaac).

While it's a fab view and surrounds, let's just say many of the villagers are as grumpy as Martin, or in some cases even worse!  I get the impression some would rather the series never came to town.

And the roads to some of the shops / accomodation through there.  Talk about steep.  Wow.

Looking forward to a happy Bluey tonight and the boys getting round Clarry!

Is there a Demon Army table tonight?  I wouldn't mind just going over to thank you all personally for how you support and represent our club so magnificently.

Just saw Clarry arrive on his own. Head down.

I just want to wish everyone from Demonland who is attending the Melbourne Demons 2023 Best & Fairest a wonderful evening!

GO DEMONS!!! 🔴🔵👹

Driving home this evening along swan street and went by a group of younger players on foot/route to the B&F with travellers. They’re just like us!

I think it says a lot that you can name three major British comedy series and there's more diversity in that set of three than just about the entire range of US comedies. Also far more memorable scenes of building a joke up to a crescendo, and far more quotable one-liners. It's rapid turnaround consumables versus generation-defining art.

And if you want an epic reach of a metaphor - the extreme variety of British comedy versus the persistent sameness of US comedy is a tangible example of what happens when you manage your audience based on repeatedly hitting the 'largest aggregate target' (US model currently employed by the AFL) versus the 'nurture each niche in the market and enjoy the wondrous variety' (UK model / all-clubs-engaged football).

Everything is about football in the end

Hope Tom Morris isn't there, actually he'd probably want to be there to see what gossip he can reveal

Just saw on ch7 that they said Yze will be there which is nice and grundy, I'm assuming no JJ?

JJ will definitely be there.
Hope Grundy is too

This school play is literally the most painful thing I’ve sat through since we lost to Carlton 🫠

Don’t understand the Tom Morris vitriole in regards to the Clarry stuff. I much prefer his narrative on the subject than someone like Mick Warner

There are only so many times you can listen to pimply teens butcher classic songs before you wish to burn your ear drums.
My ears haven’t suffered this much since I was listening to inbreds cheering while Gus was knocked out.

Mick Warner lost creditability with me when he wrote a story on the stairs dan fell over.

Anyway who is our MC tonight?

Yeah it's ok on my phone. Clicked on just as Kate was speaking.

She's right with regards to the trade talk. So from now on I'll wait to hear from the club about speculation and not others

  • CASEY: Coburg

The Casey Demons returned to their home ground which was once a graveyard for opposing teams but they managed to gift the four points on offer to Coburg with yet another of their trademark displays of inaccuracy in front of goals and some undisciplined football that earned the displeasure of the umpires late in the game. The home team was welcomed by a small crowd at Casey Fields and looked right at home as it dominated the first three quarters and led for all bar the last five minutes of the game. In the end, they came away with nothing, despite winning everywhere but on the scoreboard and the free kick count.

The Demons were wasteful early before putting the foot down early in the 2nd quarter but they chased tail for the remainder of the match. They could not get their first use of the footy after half time and when they did poor skills, execution and decision making let them down.
