I dunno, even if Brisbane got through it'd gonna be hard. Don't want to watch it and get let down again, the stress bank account has taken a hit lately.

Might go fishing and get drunk on grand final day. I usually love watching it no matter who is in it.

Totally soured this year.

Thanks Gil

Reading some of these comments... I am glad I have decided to ignore footy other than MFC games.

Wouldn't surprise me if tomorrow there are some weird things going around the Gabba.

Btw, I saw that they gave 15000 tickets to Carlton fans. How many did we get against WC back in 2018? I would be surprised if it was more than 5000.

Would you mind proof reading before you post in future, not making a great deal of sense there...

Too busy thinking about men in lycra perhaps.

Bedford’s been a bit overrated this year if you ask me. Kicked 12.17 for the year and missed a crucial goal early in the 3rd qtr tonight which would’ve given GWS some much needed confidence and ascendancy.

Massive blue. He only had to run straight at the goal and kick through the ball. Tried a too clever by half screw kick.

Regulation blue for a youngster. It's a prelim, only a seasoned pro straightens up and kicks it

Similar to Sparrow's miss v Blues.

I will be attending the Grand Final as an AFL member and if Carlton beat Collingwood  then I’ll reluctantly take it.

I think you're speaking in riddles BBP.

If it ends up being a filth vs Carlton GF we all know where you'll be taking it!

I hate the filth. Sydney beat the filth by a point in last years prelim and then got flogged in the granny. Hope the same happens to the filth this year.

Sargent Schultz "I see nothing"😂

Fugging incredible hey!

The filth need a gps to help find them the airport, didn’t travel the last 5 rounds & McGuire complained about playing the lions @ marvel in rd 24! All other top 4 teams travelled twice, in a tight competition how can one team have an advantage???

Told you all this season is rigged.

The most infuriating thing about Collingwood making the Grand Final is that they’re not even that [censored] good.

Yep, so peeved. Give us Melks and Petty back and we would have had it in the bag.

You  know who I blame for this. The players from our team who couldn't kick straight to save themselves.

It's easy for them. They can escape by going overseas next week. We can't.

Good enough to get there tho

We just weren’t (noting injuries and very poor kicking and cacking our dacks last 2 mins v Blues)

This really is the one that got away

GWS lost because of 2 bad mistakes in the third quarter, the turnover kick and then the player who didn't bodyline the ball. Both resulted in goals and gave Collingwood back the momentum

They also missed their first 4 shots at goal.

Did Toby go up on the ball in those final minutes because he could have been the experienced one to wrestle it out

Don't know about that. Last night's game was seriously high quality. I felt at half time, given the Giant's aerial dominance that they would have the edge on us. They were very impressive.

Collingwood's chaotic style undid them in the third quarter. Giants could not slow the game down and reassert control which is all a bit sad really.

Very much hoping the Lions get it done for Chris Fagan.

That was Callum Brown. He was otherwise terrific and a few minutes later kicked a ripper goal, but that was a costly mistake that undid some of his good work.

Still treated as a minnow club

and we roll over and accept it (like getting sent to Kardinia Gulag every year since 2000)

Is this why Carlton got 15,000 tickets at the Gabba for today's game?

How can that happen unless it was mandated by the AFL?

If we take  away the crowds and close finishes i think the game is at sn all time low in standard. The amount of time players have to get rid of the ball is not as the game was intended to show of kicking and evasion skills.Again we have too many players around the ball and players are not tiring in the way anticipated at end of games for it to break open. I think thats with 23 including sub but more to do with game plans

what do other think please

Really peed off that Cox and Maynard get to play in a grand final. Only consolation will be watching them with their heads in hand when they lose next week.

Why is one team given a 6 day break in a 4 team competition?

what a joke

Especially after the gws have flown interstate for three games in a row.

Hard not to believe it's all about the filth.

  • WHAT’S NEXT? by The Oracle

What’s next for a beleagured Melbourne Football Club down in form and confidence, facing  intense criticism and disapproval over some underwhelming recent performances and in the midst of a four game losing streak? Why, it’s Adelaide which boasts the best percentage in the AFL and has won six of its last seven games. The Crows are hot and not only that, the game is at the Adelaide Oval; yet another away fixture and the third in a row at a venue outside of Victoria. One of the problems the Demons have these days is that they rarely have the luxury of true home ground advantage, something they have enjoyed just once since mid April.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
