Are you out in cricket if the ball brushes the hairs on your wrist ?

Only if Carlton are bowling, then there is no doubt, you are out, you're totally fARCed.

These sort of comments are uninformed. Look at Essendon after 2000. Look at Geelong and Fremantle this year. There’s absolutely no guarantees in this game.

Or look at Brisbane and Melbourne, regular finalists for several consecutive years now. Dees with one flang and the Lions with a chance to get one next week.

Of course there are no guarantees in football and outcomes are a complex interplay of playing lists, form, coaches, preparation, mentality, injuries and sometime just plain luck thrown into the mix.

Next year the Dees could get the wooden spoon, but I am 99% certain they won't.

I'll put a $100 on the Blues having serious September action again in 2024. Carlton have a very good list now, needs a bit of tinkering to improve but they are ready after losing their finals virginity and gaining some useful experience this season and in the 3 finals games they played in recently ...

Carlton had mind boggling luck in 2023 especially over the past 6 weeks or so. People are justified in accusing a 'higher authority'  of watching over them come finals season.

No way would i put 100 bucks on them getting past the semis next year unless their luck continues.

Theyre not a top side and cripps and curnow arent getting any younger.

  • CASEY: Coburg

The Casey Demons returned to their home ground which was once a graveyard for opposing teams but they managed to gift the four points on offer to Coburg with yet another of their trademark displays of inaccuracy in front of goals and some undisciplined football that earned the displeasure of the umpires late in the game. The home team was welcomed by a small crowd at Casey Fields and looked right at home as it dominated the first three quarters and led for all bar the last five minutes of the game. In the end, they came away with nothing, despite winning everywhere but on the scoreboard and the free kick count.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 17 vs Adelaide

The Demons were wasteful early before putting the foot down early in the 2nd quarter but they chased tail for the remainder of the match. They could not get their first use of the footy after half time and when they did poor skills, execution and decision making let them down.
