I’ll caveat the following that I’m extremely nervous and that any team can honestly win it from here. Carlton are a great team, but with many threats from friends of 🎾 emojis (straight sets) incoming if we lose, I’ve got to believe the following…

Dees by 36

Defence: May and Lever to dominate. McKay and Martin are massive outs. Martin is targeted more inside 50 than any other player.

Midfield: We’ll have ruck advantage with TDK likely having to spend more time forward to fill McKay’s role. Carlton’s midfield has the tilt though.

Forward: We’re down on stock, but if we can lower the eyes and stop the high entries, I think our strategy of playing small will beat their tall defence.

Hoping the Dees to open strong in 1Q, expect an arm wrestle 2-3Q, then a blow out 4Q.

Turn it up. They haven't won a premiership in 28 years and won one final in the last 10 years.

So.... who's booked their flights to QLD?

My dad asked me this morning if we should go. I told him we are not to speak of it until after the game tonight.

If we win i'll head up to the Gabba for sure

And that win was last week, when we haven’t won one in 2 years! Historical stats like yours and mine can be abused.

Objectively speaking, they’ve won 9 of their past 10 games which included beating Collingwood and Port Adelaide. As they sit right now they have a great midfield and defence, and therefore they are a great team.

I genuinely believe that we are better. Still doesn’t mean I can’t appreciate who we’re against.

That’s gold, we’ll played.

Yeah, that's the way to go I think.

On a lighter note,

Where are the MFC rooms ,are they permanent or do they get shafted from one room to another even though its our Home ground.

I noticed on Facebook a dees supporter filming dees running out from the cricket pavillion end or Ponsford stand last Thursday night.

Stand looked half empty. I thought we ran out from the Members wing but i havent lived in OZ for years.

Games that i have watched o/seas dont show the pre match run outs.

Where can I listen?

I listened to some comments from him on Whateley, was pre-team drop, but still very relevant and insightful.

Not super surprising obviously, he talked about us needing to be more daring, going for the extra handball/few metres in going forward and risking a few more turnovers. Said Langdon was his magnet this week. Was interesting, would be good to see him make more of an impact, he's certainly due.

Just back on tech after a week on an island in Fiji. Will enjoy my next Collingwood match live, so I can throw a hot pie at Maynard. Watching at the bar tonight in Denarau.. love you beautiful people.. Go Dees!!

Just saw the highlights from our 2000 finals win against the Blues, on the AFL FB page

Was great to see that - good comeback and some really lovely delivery into the 50 that day! Would be good to see some of that today. Hopefully no need for a comeback!

Also another reminder that Neale squeezed the absolute most possible out of that team.

It’s a good omen

Please send them over to Eddie Maguire's house, pronto!

Since the final siren last week I have been dreading tonight's game but something in me flicked this morning as the game got closer...

Through all those dark years all we as supporters dreamt of was been apart of finals & games like tonight...  The players saw one of their mates get KO'd 5 mins into a final then we played one prime midfielder short for the game, all of this on top of outplaying the premiership favorites for 3 quarters & really with a bit of luck should have pinched the game.

Everyone crapping on about Carlton & their hot form, we should have beaten them (well we did) then they fell in against the GC then lost to the Giants & were average for large parts again Sydney last week... I see no reason why we don't get the win tonight then give Brisbane a huge shake up next week, this side won't go down easy.

Hmmm .... I'm guessing the first pot will go down at an (early) luncheon Dub.

Who drinks out of pots when pints are available?

Uncle, my opinion of you is slipping.

Our banner isn’t at all concerned with the opposition. We’re using our space wisely, including a shoutout to Gussy and Hibbo. Oh, and THE MOST amazing graphic thus far. A montage of players: Kozzie and my absolute favourite inclusion… three of the “lesser lights” in Nibs, Smithy and Spaz. Not a Maxy, Tracc or Clarrie in sight. 😁

'Let's do this for Gus, and squeeze this team of pus'?

Well I find it difficult to hold a pint in each hand Steve - pots are more manageable.

Surely Schache or Grundy sub right???  Why do we have Schache if we didn't put him in this week FFS??!?!

Because he's not an AFL level footballer, let alone a finals player.

Given what the fu&)(&/) happened to Gus, here’s the Dees preparing for this weeks game !!!

Why is Maynard training with us?

Or is it just a lookalike?

Fellow Minions and beloved d'landers attending the game tonight ... yes that's you....

Please ask yourself, are we just supporters or  can we add to this match as barrackers, just as we did on QB against the filth!

....I EMPLORE EVERY ONE OF YOU....TO STAND TOGETHER AS ONE MIGHTY DEMON ARMY TONIGHT.

I KNOW MANY ON HERE ARE ALREADY GREAT BARRACKERS AND NEED NO ENCOURAGEMENT

BUT LET'S LIFT THE ROOF OFF.

AS GREAT AS THEY ARE (and i'm sure there are plemty on here...i'm also one of them albeit nothing like the full on serious players that lead them like Ryan, WC etc) DON'T LEAVE TOO MUCH OF THE HEAVY LIFTING TO THE OFFICIAL D.A.

BE EXTRA LOUD TONIGHT NO MATTER WHERE YOU'RE SITTING (EVEN THE MCC) RIGHT FROM THE OPENING BOUNCE!!!!

LET'S GIVE THE BOYS A HUGE LIFT AS THE 19TH MAN AND BRING EM HOME

NO QUARTER TILL THE FINAL SIREN!

CARN THE MIGHTY DEMONS!

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.
