Forgot about Bowey.

Take a bow.

That's a lot of poor efforts noticed Joeboy but sadly true.

And we almost won.

Gawn - Huge Heart.  Herculean effort. Huge

Viney - flew the flag then tried but overall not at his best at all

Petracca - nowhere in 1st half / lifted to almost bring us home in the second half, but learn to tackle , often easily pushed away or evaded

Oliver - tried and tried and tried but many many irrelevant possessions , got better and nearly lifted us

May - looked out of sorts early but lifted to one of the best Dees in the night - such passion and heart

Lever - big on spoils , had a few brain fades , why didn’t we keep Turner in so Lever could be intercept defender

Bowey - good and almost very good. Safe in disposal… an important game

Rivers - where was his energy. No go tonight … was surprisingly quiet

Salem - ummm he’s not the player of 2021 … looked slow and loose

McVee - good game … Hill got 2 early but Judd was break even tonight

Smith - had his chances - rather see him in defence

McDonald - retire now … slow … cannot turn … 3 minutes - 2 goals

vanRooyen - young colt - raw - overawed -  will be suspended

Fritsch - brain fades … almost good … his defence is non existent  - players brush him off  learn to tackle !!!

Pickett - an almost game as usual - brilliant and poor in so many passages - could have won it but it’s often a case now of almost !!!

Neal-Bullen - good in patches - a defensive forward

Sparrow - nowhere in 1st half then better second half

Chandler - did he play? Looked lost

Hunter - gets the footy BUT slow to dispose of footy - must improve decision making

Hibberd - very good as stopped Elliott all night

Laurie - no no no  was lost  almost delist now

Langdon - yes he was Sidebottom gimp but got much better in second half

ANB 'Was rarely sighted" Standard comment by Joeboy on Alex ,who played a bloody good game. Not his fault we lost.

Rivers - Feature article curse

Max Gawn deserves to win another flag. He is arguably the best player I’ve ever seen play for Melbourne.

A god amongst mere mortals. His [censored] plays better football than Mason “I’m a yank thug” Cox.

Once again our backline delivered. I swear they must pull their hair out. Kept Pies to 60 points and watch our forwards blow 30 chances to score two measly goals in the last quarter.

I haven’t been his biggest fan this year, but Max was immense tonight. A pity that most didn’t follow the example that he led by.

The forward line was disappointing all night, as was the delivery into it.

As for TMAC - I’m sorry, but even a 1-legged Melky would’ve done better tonight. And I have no idea what we see in Smith, he is well entrenched in our bottom 6 and yet he manages to hang around on the list (I’m sure he’s a great guy and all, but he is not an AFL quality player).

Kozzie just needs to be told to go out and have fun playing footy, his heads all at sea.

Langdon & Hunter we’re so soft, in a final you’ve got to put your head over the ball, both ineffective

Club - Giant Brain Fart

Harden up & link up boys or it's out in straight sets again!

ANB was pretty good.

Clarry 750 metres gained. Not useful?

Grabbing the ball and kicking it forward as far of you can to an intercept is not what we need from him

Melbourne: Lower your eyes

Melbourne: Do not Panic

Wrong on Neal Bullen

Laurie, Back to Casey

Oh wait!

Kossi  an almost game

Needs to put meat on his obvious talent.

" nearly " is getting old

Perfect analysis.

I am so frustrated with this loss.  Seems yet another wasted opportunity.  No real connection in the forward line and looks like we lose Roo.  But, I cannot understand why we re-signed Schache.  A former number 2 in the national draft, us being his third club, he clearly is not up to standard and as a result, we don't select him to play, when we are in desperate need of forwards.

Yet we select a bloke that has only played 2 VFL games in 4 months.  I have the utmost respect for TMac, but sadly, I think the game has passed him by.

We have seen the lack of separation in our forward line several times this year, yet we dominated inside 50's last night.  Surely our coaches can come up with a better plan that what we appear to have at the moment.  So bloody annoyed.

Re Tommy and Smith - best available and probably neither picked now as forwards were Petty Melksham BBB fit and available.
But I believe they will both be needed next week especially as the impartial MRO and former Collingwood player feels the need to flex his muscles and JVR gets done (as he will).
