What we do reckon we would have to give to Crows for McAdam? A future 3rd round. ??? Or Straight swap for Harmesy ??? 🥲🤔

McAdam is OOC, I believe so either we give them a 3rd round pick or he walks to the preseason draft and the Crows get nothing. That'd be a 50+ pick. It's a joke that they wanted Petty who's still got 2 years on his contract.

it'll be a third, or a future third, you'd think

Anything more and we're being taken for a ride. You'd think we are in the box seat.

I suspect we will get pick 44 from the Tigers for Harmes and that pick will get McAdam over the line

I’m sure he’ll be in most posters 22 round 1 because people seem to think that most players from other clubs are better than our own.

ls he any good? struggling to get a game for Adelaide

Wasn’t struggling to get a game. Suspension and injury was his issue. Was a mature age draft pick as well. A late bloomer who is very good.

I suspect Yze’s presence at tigerland will have them stepping away from any deal for Harmes.

Well, he will be a Melbourne player by then! And surely we aren’t getting a 28 year old to play in the 2’s. Plus the Pickett suspension.

Question will be what role he plays and how he fits with Fritsch, 2-3 talls, possibly Joel Smith and smalls.

Could easily play round 1 and be dropped for round 2.

But I do like the idea of him playing the small deep forward role that Kossie played in finals. That frees up Fritsch and Pickett to do more up the ground in a variety of roles.

Dude can play. Is a genuine target and good finisher. The best possible replacement for Melksham I can think of.

And someone who can find marks like this at the end of our long bombs is always going to be handy.

Except that posters have said he is going to Dodoro and that means we will pay them.

McAdam has probably 2 good seasons left, so will not be expensive in trade pick.

Have a look at his highlights reel. He is a great get!

Seeing it - or at least hearing it - we'll get Derwayne on side, at least!

He looks like a 75% Fritsch/Pickett. Not sure then, if (when?) we want a true, imposing KPF.

But cheaply, and for a low pick? Can't hurt.

He certainly finds space, is quick off the mark, and kicks straight.

PS listening to the commentary reminds me (as if I needed reminding) just what an awful commentator is Derrwwwayne. Pretending to sound astounded at every play.

I am looking forward to having Shane McAdam playing for the Demons next year in 2024!

He is definitely a high-flyer when it comes to taking marks! I found a highlights video from when he was drafted by the Adelaide Crows from Sturt in the SANFL. The link can be found here:

Very average.  Can kick goals but is lazy and gives away free kicks.

He is Fritsch cover and that is it.  And the way he is leaving the crows worries me too, just an average footballer who thinks he is better

Just what we need in the forward line, another MOY candidate to compete with Kozzie

They way he left? Burgo basically said his hamstring tightness was in his head and then he did it. So much for Burgos resilience.

He’s a good player that we will get cheaply.

So the same guy that set up our fitness structure and led our program to a flag?

Think Burgo has more runs on the board than McAdam, his lazyness and preparedness for games is what has lead to him playing only 50 games in 4 seasons.

I hope I am wrong, and we do need some experience coming in to cover what we are going to lose.  But he screams poor work ethic to me and have heard the same thing about him from within the club too

You could be right, but hopefully having 2-3 years at most of his AFL career left, might get the finger pulled out.

  • PREVIEW: Hawthorn

Melbourne and Hawthorn who face off against each other this week have more in common than having once almost merged and about to wear a blue jumper with a red v triangle and an embroidered picture of a bird on the front. They also share the MCG as their main home ground, their supporters are associated with the leafy suburbs of Melbourne and in recent times, James Frawley graced the colours of both teams. Even more recently, both have bounced back from disastrous five game losing streaks to start off a season. Of course, the Hawks turned their bounce into a successful leap from the bottom of the ladder into a finals appearance, making it to the semifinals in 2024 and this year, they’re riding high in third place on the AFL table. The Demons are just three games into their 2025 bounce back, and are yet to climb their way out of the bottom four although they are sitting a game and percentage out of the top eight. However, with the current sportsbet odds of $3.90 to win this week’s encounter, it seems a forlorn hope that their upward progression will continue much longer.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
