I’m sure there’ll be plenty of speculation as to his fitness or return timeframe, but any “experts” have any insight?

It sounds like an ACL.

Absolutely devastating to be honest. I've admired him this year purely of how hard he's worked and the influence he's had on our forward line.

Footy is bloody cruel because he deserves to finish his career on a high note and that would be by winning a flag.

I'd offer him a one year deal imo.

  • Demonland changed the title to Jake Melksham Injury

No idea, but Melky was ready to have a great finals series.

Hope it was only a twinge/pinch, and the pictures come back without serious damage.

If it is

Anyone across the use of long term injury list?

I am certainly no expert so I am just hoping it’s not a serious injury

he has performed so well over the last month or so and I really want him to taste some success at the Dees - he hasn’t enjoyed a final win since the 2018 win against the Dawks

Goody said in his press conference that it looks like an ACL. Also said Dunstan did his ACL in the VFL too

Suspect we will probably de-list him if it’s an ACL, put him through rehab and offer him a full time gig at the club coaching forwards, and agree to re-draft him (even via mature age rookie list) in 2025, all else being equal

Our forward line is cursed. Poor melky. Genuinely hurts us having him out. Would have played a big role against Collingwood.

Tom kicked 5 today but I’m worried about his lack of dynamism if he were to come in for such a huge game.

I was thinking ACL initially. Could be MCL, could be meniscus, who the heck knows but those would need time out out.

It would be a miracle if the scan came back with nothing. It reminds me a lot of the Lever one in his first year with us.

ACL likely per Goodwin.

Absolutely [censored] devastating.

He was about to get another year, the scans might decide his future now. Hard to come back at his age.

Heartbreaking footage, great win by the boys but that has overshadowed the performance.  Hoping for the best but fearing the worst for poor Jake.

Would be a good investment. I could see Melksham becoming a Senior Coach to be honest if he's interested. Extremely well respected in the football community and has a good eye for club culture. Plus he has seen a lot in his time.

Can we re-draft Cam Pederson as a mature age rookie next year for 1 season until Melky recovers then? 😜 Dont mind me 🍻

What a [censored] way to finish his career.  Has been in great form and big chance to grab a premiership medal that would never been very deserved.

We have but when they happen, bang!

Apparently Dunstan did his ACL as well.

Been a good contributor for the MFC at Casey. Was worth recruiting him. Takes the polish off this weekend. Footy is cruel.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.

The Demons return to the scene of the crime on Saturday to face the wooden spooners the Eagles at the Docklands. Who comes in and who goes out? Like moving deck chairs on the Titanic.

It's Game Day and there are only 5 games to go. Can the Demons find some consistency and form as they stagger towards the finish line of another uninspiring season?
