Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Could be anything, but ACL seems very unlikely given his ease and no apparent swelling. If I HAD to guess, I’d say medial ligament (MCL), gde 1+, which would make him a non-starter for the QF anyway. 🤞🏻 it’s nothin’.

I’m surprised at your guess at Melk’s diagnosis , Webber.

I thought( from my own experience) MCL’s hurt like hell. But you can often weightbear , and look ok soon after an ACL. Not so?

Well well well after some of the comments in the 3rd quarter maybe some of you posters should hold your horses before losing faith so easily

How long have you been on Demonland?

It’s also generally the same people every week.

But apparently it’s ok, they are venting so having no faith in what the players have proven over an extended period means nothing to them

Fritta was great but he didn't get us out of jail, that was a team effort today and they all dug in.

Absolutely. Fritsch is a stone cold killer that turned quarter chances into gold sealed. We were always going to get over the line with how we dominated territory and contest in the last 40 mins. Also, don’t sleep on this stat - after 20 mins of the last - we played on from marks 28% of the time (Syd 7%) Our ball movement was assured and quick and through the middle a lot of the time.

That’s what I wanted to see us do, especially on that small ****ty ground.

Also, one does not simply enter the game day thread during the game…

Can be either, in truth. There’s no way of knowing based on pain alone, and one personal experience is close to useless balanced across the spectrum of possible experiences of either injury. I’ve just learned that Goody said it’s looking like an ACL. This would mean Jake had a positive Lachman’s test, which is close to definitive if the knee lets you apply the test effectively (able to relax, not too much swelling yet, or unconscious muscle ‘guarding’). The reason for MCL guess is twofold - that the knee collapsed ‘inwards’, and his indicating his inner knee on the bench. I don’t doubt he has some MCL, and over half of ALL ACL ruptures come with MCL concomitance, a bit less so the medial meniscus.

Really glad with the win. Knew we were going to be forth no matter what. So happy that even though it was interstate we still tried hard and got the win.  I’m glad our boys didn’t treat it as dead rubber game as many people have suggested. Great to see Fritch back and playing at the top of his game.

However, I’m very worried about Melksham. I hope it’s not 2021 all over against for him. First Petty and now him. Why do all our form players go down at the worst possible times?

Beating Sydney twice this year is quite the accomplishment. We have a terrible record against them over the last few decades so I'll savour this one for a little while.

Regarding the match, I thought Nibbler was very good and has put together a really strong month of football. He's so damaging at the moment and I love it.

Laurie showed good signs, I had him on the delist pile halfway through the season but I can see now what the coaches like about him. He'll only get better with a few more pre seasons under the belt, just like Woey and Sestan.

How good are Riv, McVee and Bowey! they're all super competitors and drive so much rebound from defence while nullifying their opponents. Watching these guys for the next decade in the Red and Blue what a sight that will be... absolute Jets! and AA in the near future.

I love how we absorb the opposition surge in the 3rd quarter and then we wear the oppo down and draw level with them at the end of the quarter to then steam roll them in the last. We are doing what the Pies did to teams last year and just come storming home and there's little the opposition can do about it.

Not wanting to sound ungrateful but attending a game in Sydney is so different from Melbourne. It’s as if only half the people are there to actually watch the game. The other half (groups of men, groups of woman, parents with kids, kids by themselves) are constantly in and out of their seats during the game, standing in the walkways, back and fourth for drinks, photo opportunities with other families. At one point a man who was constantly going to the bar stopped in front of wife mid game to talk to someone in the row in front of us, we were the first two seats of that row so he could have just passed us to have the chat whilst standing in the aisle but decided to stand in front of us and lean over. One group didn’t even come to their seats until early in the 3rd. Grateful to the club for the free tickets but next time I’d rather pay and sit up higher, ground level, fwd pocket at that ground is not great for viewing. Really need to watch the replay on Kayo.
Did the Swans have their supporters behind both goals? It seemed that way.

Absolutely gutted for Melksham.

De Goey is an impact player like Petracca don't underestimate his ability.

De Goey is a very good player but he's not in Petracca's class.  @DeeSpencer is making claims about how we weren't impressive against Sydney and we should be worried about De Goey and Pendlebury. Yeah they're very good.

But they should be [censored] themselves about Petracca, Oliver and Viney.

Who would you rather have?

I've never had a good experience watching footy at the SCG. Apart from being $50 minimum for a GA ticket there's few decent vantage points to watch from. Totally agree being on the pocket on ground level might be the worst spot there.

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
