Pre season 2021 they rated our midfield bottom 4.

I still laugh at that.

Was that the year Gawn, Trac and Oliver were amomgst our All Australians, Trac and Oliver scooped up several individual honours throughout the year, and said midfield tore the Bulldogs to shreds in the GF? Yeah, good call there Champion Data. Oh boy.

Says it all about Champion Data. The more clubs pay $$$$ to them for data the better it looks for that club. Data to suit a narrative.

I remember in 2017 they tipped us to finish 7th with a game to go.

And the missed that prediction by about 3%

If it's a MFC V Brisbane GF, I have a bit of a family crisis on my hands.  Youngest son is fair dinkum and goes for the Mighty Demons, but his big brother supports the Lions (yeah, I know - should have thrown him out of the nest).

Only have 2 X GFG memberships 🤔

Hmmmm tough decision coming up maybe.

Do you either:

A) Be honest and tell your eldest that he made a poor decision in life and needs to learn a lesson in consequences.

Or

B) Do you lie and tell him if the Lions and Dees make the grand final in 2024, that you'll take him then.

Very, very tough decision.

Yes but preseason 2019 they rated us as flag contenders. Their data is historic, it is not a projection. Based on 2019/20 you could say we did have a bottom 4 midfield prior to 2021.

Exactly.

That's why RBG had two sons!

Excellent planning to mitigate the risk of not having a child who supports the mighty dees.

It's a great problem to have if we get there.

My brother in law goes for Port and sadly he meets there criteria for supporting, lovely guy though.

I don't get the excitement about Lions winning a flag.

Their going to be hard to beat on their home finals sure but last time I checked, the granny will be played at the mighty Mcg where it belongs.

Lions have the biggest voodoo there and it will certainly come into play

Weird that that they would rank our midfield so low given they ranked Gawn, Oliver and Trac as elite at the start of the 21 season.  Not like they would have marked Viney and Brayshaw as mugs either.

of course, this is the year they ranked Mason Cox as elite, so I'm thinking there was a bug in their spreadsheet and nobody fixed it.

We all make choices

you’ll be like the knight in the crypt in the last crusade - look at your youngest … “ you have chosen …. wisely”

Yeah, I guess I've got a better strike rate that the old man.  He's got three sons and I'm the only one that's a passionate Demons (the other not really footy driven, but notional MFC supporters).

If we get to the big dance at the G, the three generations of MFC supporters will be the together and I couldn't go past that.  Dad was there at the G in 64, and I was there with him in 88 and 2000.  Watching a winning one at the G with them both would be bloody magic.

Love that Max recognises and values the significance of winning one at home at the MCG where family freinds and the MFC faithful can truly share the experience and hope that is really driving the playing group headding into this finals series.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

  • PREGAME: Essendon

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

  • POSTGAME: Geelong

The Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, falling to 0–4 after a more spirited showing against the Cats at Kardinia Park. Despite the improved effort, they went down by 39 points, and the road ahead is looking increasingly grim.
