Assuming we know if that last game is a dead rubber, is there anything in the rules that would stop us playing all four emergencies and simply resting Gawn, May, Viney for example.

Well, you push the envelope but don't cross the line

Lyon has twice rested 8 or 9 players on the eve of finals.  Brad Scott did the same

To me, it's not about resting players, more so avoiding any more injuries

As it stands, Fritsch is still out and we've run out of tall forwards who can impact games (good luck Smithy!)

Players are routinely 'managed' throughout the season.  No rule apart from bring the game into disrepute maybe.

Play Casey (plus bailey for a run) in Sydney I say and give the finger to AFL HQ.

I have read lots of posts from Pies supporters on Twitter and they seem to be OK with dropping the minor premiership.

They don't fancy playing us at the G' and rather would play Port at the G'.

Colliwobbles 😁😁😁

I’ve read that too but winning from 1 from your last 5 isn’t a great form line heading into finals.

No team has done that and went on to win the flag. It’s absolutely not what McRae was wanting. I do not care what anyone says, no coach wants their team struggling in August.
Doubt starts creeping in and suddenly you aren’t the scary proposition everyone thought you were. Pies in particular, have lost their greatest advantage in the last month. Teams no longer fear them. They no longer worry about getting overrun from any position. They’ve shed their cloak of invincibility. Which leaves them as just another good side in contention.

This could be a contender for worst game of the year.

It’s like pulling teeth

Gold Coast will need to play on at every opportunity to even have a chance today. Can't compete defensively with Carlton.

Flanders has 9 touches in 6 minutes

😳

I Put a fair bit on GC. Carlton are the biggest confidence team in the league. when their run stops, they fall off a cliff. can’t play on emotion for too long

Carlton look dreadful

Looks like they played their grand final last weekend...

I’m worried about how flat Carlton are. Last week was a very hard game. I hope we don’t come out this flat.

Their on the Gold Coast with one day less to recover

Hope that’s the difference between us and them

This looks more about preparation. They shouldn’t be flat in the first quarter. I also think the Suns match up really well in the midfield.

Hopefully they are just flat because they made finals for the first time in a million years and have relaxed now the monkey is off their back.

This week and next I'll be barracking for whatever combination of results see Carlton tipped out of the 8.

Suns are coming. They have a great midfield, a good VFL side, and are about to get handed the best academy picks ever. Hardwick knew what he was doing.

Not that I wish ill on anyone, and Cripps is down in the rooms

  • Thank You Simon Goodwin

As Demon fans, we’ve ridden a rollercoaster of emotions over the decades; the heartbreaks, the near misses, the wooden spoons, and the endless waiting. But through it all, we clung to hope. And then came Simon Goodwin. Before he ever wore red and blue, he was a champion in his own right. A five-time All-Australian, two-time Best and Fairest, and two-time premiership hero and Captain with Adelaide, Simon Goodwin was always destined to lead. When he transitioned from the field to the coach's box, first as an assistant at Essendon, he began shaping a new legacy.
