Clarrie not named. WTF. This is beyond a joke.

He's listed amongst the followers on the team sheet on the AFL page for Sunday's game.

Brodie Grundy, [9] Charlie Spargo, [10] Angus Brayshaw, [16] Bailey Laurie, [19] Josh Schache, [20] Adam Tomlinson, [23] James Jordon, [37] Kade Chandler

not much given away from the selected 18.

Bench will be Chandler, Gus, Tomo and JJ imo

I'm a bit confused about how this works (should know by now I know).  Surely Hibberd is one of the extended bench?  If so why does he get listed as "out"?

he’s in the 22 from last week

My bad I could only see the ins and outs. I’ve just tended my resignation as a selector.

Mitch Lewis out for the Hawks, not 100% sold that Tommo is in now

I'd like to see them give Bailey Luaurie a go in place or James Jordon

One last roll of the dice for 'Gawndy'?

Hibberd was the 23rd player last week - sub. he is not in the 22 this week.  sub yet to be named.

not on the extended bench so he’ll play for casey

Just seeing Josh Schache's name in the extended squad makes me nervous.

They still have talls in Kozitsche, Denver-Barass and Brady who all played forward last week. Tommo should play.

What happened to Hibbo? Surely not dropped?

He was sub. It’s just the stupid nature of the selections that subs are listed as out

Was horrible for Casey last week

Hibberd is not in the 26.

Nothing against the kid but he shouldn't be in a top 4 side this deep into the season. He'd struggle to make North's 22.

I reckon Schache suffers a bit from confirmation bias from supporters. I’ve seen him play very decent games at Casey, kick multiple goals in games, be an effective second ruck and show courage backing into packs. He just seems to lack intensity so is unlikely to be selected because the team demands that attribute. It’s a shame because he could be our forward line temporary solution if it can all come together for him. I would not be devastated for him to get a game.

Grundy and Laurie definitely to play, perhaps Chandler the sub with Tomo, Schak and JJ at Casey

The game at AFL level requires intensity, and it would be some kind of miracle for it to come together for him at his 3rd club in Rd 23 of his 8th season. I think Grundy stays in as the tall target.

Otherwise from that extended bench I’d have Brayshaw, Chandler & Tomlinson (would’ve preferred Hibberd). Jordan as sub, maybe Spargo but I think we’re small enough as it is.

Laurie is a great kick and very accurate when shooting for goal. I'd like to see him play HFF/FP

A fair summation of where Josh sits DeeMee . To paraphase Paul Simon  'A man sees what he wants to see and disregards the rest'. Try not to pull the blinds down myself. Of course we have favourites who seemingly do no wrong and those we have less esteem for who appear to do no right.

Not the best game from Josh last round at Princess Park. But he is a clever player who can read the flight of the ball, position himself well and is normally a long, accurate kick. Like a number of his peers, the goal kicking gyroscope was awry last Sunday and he failed to kick a major. Might surprise a few if he got another go. Ditto Luke Dunstan.

Just saw that. Maybe they want to give him a full game at Casey for fitness ahead of finals?

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #42 Aidan Johnson

The VFL premiership player was recruited from Werribee to alleviate Melbourne’s forward line woes and give a chop out in the ruck, but he managed only five senior matches in his first season at the club. At times, he was a dominant force at VFL level.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #44 Luker Kentfield

An exciting young key forward, Kentfield was selected in the 2024 mid-season draft but has yet to make his AFL debut. He was sidelined by a severe bout of pneumonia over the summer, which consequently limited his pre-season. Upon his return a month into the season, he commenced in defence but ultimately impressed with his progress at Casey, particularly in the latter part of the season as a strong marking goal kicking forward.

  • AFLW REPORT: West Coast

Melbourne’s response to last week’s heartbreak was emphatic, as the Demons delivered a statement win over West Coast at a windswept Casey Fields. All of the pre-match hype surrounded the coach’s box matchup of Mick Stinear up against his apprentice, Daisy Pearce along with the gloomy weather forecast. In the end, it was less about tactical chess and more about Melbourne’s relentless execution. With rain looming, the DeeArmy and early birds snapped up the best undercover viewing spots.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: West Coast

Epic battle alert.  This Sunday, Casey Fields hosts a coach’s showdown pitting the wits of the master Mick Stinear (92 games, 71.7% win rate) against his protégé Daisy Pearce (16 games, 43.8%). Still early in her coaching journey, Daisy’s record doesn’t yet reflect her impact — but she’s already the best-performed coach at West Coast.Dais’ is mythic.  Like Katniss Everdeen, everyone either wants to kiss her, kill her (sporting metaphor) or be her.  Toothers Daisy Pearce is a role model, someone admired for their heart, humility and humour.

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.
