Breaking: Stuart Dew gone

It was always meant to happen.

GC has been a very underachieving team during his tenure.

he can have no complaints

sliding door moment when the Swans would not let Roos bring him to the Dees as his successor. We dodged a bullet there.

We should definitely see if any of the Suns players want to come home as a result of everything going on up there.

I think that's most unfair. Who knows how he would have gone if he'd come to the MFC? Different players, different recruiting set-up, different board, different supporters. For all we know (and we'll never know, of course), he might have coached us to three Premierships by now.

Wow surprised they did it now. Surely Hardwick is the target?

If only they had a young tall forward who could offer connection leads up the ground, is competent delivering inside 50, and a reasonable shot on goal with a bonus ability to roost it from outside 50.

Yes, although appointment of Hardwick may also have the effect of players wanting to stay under the “master coach”.

You mean the one that was subbed out this week and is earning squillions!!

Unfortunately for Dew I think this had to happen.

Their list is choc full of talent but yet they're one of the most irrelevant club in thr competition.

They stand for nothing and I think Dimma will give them some edge and toughness about them on and off the field.

I dunno. All things considered I didn't think he he did a bad job in the last couple of seasons. Always losing players. Built a crazy good young midfield.

In two years, GC will be the best team in it.

i'd rather try and pinch one of their best mids - anderson would be ideal

i'd take lukosious over king, who is expected to sign an extension to take him thru to free agency

It was a set up from months ago imo. Hardwick left the tigers because he knew he had that job up there. He didn’t want to quit the tiges and go straight to GC. Tge whole thing smells. Dew missed his chance with us big time.

Really. They haven't made finals with the list they have. They fold every year like a cheap suit. And they have plenty of AFL support and the resources to succeed.

No heart is a reflection on the coach. They've had their moments but they habitually disappoint every time they look like turning the corner.

And i reckon Simon Goodwin would turn them into a finals team if he had the chance.

Had a tough trot losing players over the journey but into year 6 and likely finals again is the bottom line.

They've got a plan in place, no doubt.

And you could say this about every sacked coach.

In terms of supporters, if they had any they would have been on his case long ago.

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.

  • PREGAME: St. Kilda

With just over two weeks until their opening match of the 2026 AFL Premiership season, the Demons are already well on the path to redemption and have the Saints firmly in their sights ahead of their mid-March clash at the MCG. What do you think the team will look like when they run out on to the G?

  • REPORT: Richmond

Mars is not usually a place known for lighting strikes but on Friday evening it happened twice in the vicinity of the stadium in Ballarat that carries the name and is a half completed building site with limited capacity for spectators.

  • POSTGAME: Richmond

The Dees ran another clinic for the second week in a row as they easily accounted for the Tigers in the lightning interrupted shortened match at Mars Stadium in Ballarat.

  • VOTES: Richmond

Kozzy Pickett was the man of the match last week and has a vote lead over backup ruck Max Heath who didn't play this week and 5 votes over former Saint Jack Steele. Who gets the votes in this weeks shortened match win over the Tigers? Your votes please. 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 & 1.

  • GAMEDAY: Richmond

It's Game Day and the 2026 AFL Premiership season is almost upon us as the Demons take to the field for their final practice match before the first ball is kicked in anger in 16 days time. What are you expecting to see from the Dees today as they take on the Tigers at Mars Stadium in Ballarat?
