Salem, Hibberd, May, Rivers, McVee were amazing and Tomlinson played as well as he could.

Lever was incredibly ordinary and the Pies caught him in no man’s land and danced all around him pretty much every time they went forward quickly. Had he put an intercepting clinic like he did v Collingwood I’d play him in this role each week but Salem, Rivers and May had as many intercepts and McVee just the one less.

Hibberd played full back on Ash Johnson as the third tall.

We didn’t need a 4th tall and we certainly didn’t need Brayshaw’s turnover ability in the middle, though he did get his hands on some clearances. He could’ve done Lever’s role, Lever could’ve played Tomlinson’s role and assuming he was not terrible in the few big aerial contests Tomlinson had the game would’ve been the same.

We dragged an undermined Collingwood in to a dour defensive battle.

If the aim is the lose in a prelim at best we’ll keep this set up.

Barring Tomlinson making big strides in his defensive reliability whilst somehow still lacing targets on his left, Lever improving his mobility to levels that allow him to chase smaller forwards and not look completely inept and Hibberd keeping the fountain of youth we’ll be too slow, too defensive and lack the kicking skills to bounce the ball out effectively.

If we want to go further we need a backline with more run, skill and speed for when we play the real Collingwood.

who has hurt you? And what are their names …..?

8.18 - without three premiership walks up, come on mate, we were by far the better team, some voodoo witch has cast a spell from Collingwood as all teams kick poorly against them surely….

All things considered a great win and very satisfying.  Removed a few doubts

We pressured them all over the ground (all game) and we hunted the ball extremely well and had many numbers at the contest (all game) Played very well as a team

That's our best win in an age

They had Sideottom, De Goey & Elliott out and they really missed those 3 players.  We had Oliver out of course but Viney took up his role in magnificent fashion

So what happens the next time we play them?  They'll be better so we need to be better ... especially with our disposal skills (mainly early in the game) and our kicking for goal

But we are one-up on them with a lot on the line today in terms of if we'd lost, we'd be back in the pack.  In other words, if we're going to win big again we have to finish at least top 4

Another big test at Catland next.  Bring the attitude, endeavour & effort that we displayed today to that game and we can win again.  10 days rest should see us cherry-ripe for that encounter

In the meantime, we get the bragging rights over the Pies

Enjoy!!!

Wasn't because of elite kicking that's for sure.
Goodwin didn't name it "chaos ball" for nothin'.

Our 9yr old was lucky enough to get a ball from Maysie after the game. Topped off a very good day.

The coaches must be asking Kossie to contest those marks. Otherwise, i don't know why this has gone on as long as it has.

Kossie won’t get dropped because he’s a ‘can turn a game’ player. But FMD this flying for marks is just wishing and hoping. If I was a big forward I’d be telling him to get out my way, and follow up if it drops to ground, he’s potential to impact is far greater.

Too right. He should stick to a more disciplined crumbing forward's game. Be at the feet of Gawndy and/or JVR every contest. I guarantee he'd kick way more goals or at the least provide the opposition with far more headaches.

Just got back. That is the most satisfying win since our thriller against the blues last year (maybe more so.) we to the game fully expecting to lose. I thought we played brilliant. Was worried about May costing those two goals, but just love how we dug deeper when 3 goals behind. Thought that was going to set the tone and it did.

I must admit I HATE going to games against Collingwood. Their fans are the absolute worst. I get booing when your opponent is going for a goal of when they come out, but seriously they boo all the time. If we even have possession of the ball they boo. They boo when we get a goal and they boo at the end of the game when they lost. They do all they can to drown out any of your cheering. The worst supporters ever. Sore losers

Their outs hurt them more than our outs ... by a fair margin.  But if we'd kicked straight we win by 6 or 7 goals

So even if their outs played (and Oliver plays) I reckon we still win

Petty and Bowey are not in the same league in terms of pure talent and we covered for both quite well with Smith playing well up forward along with our running backmen collectively covering for Bowey

Sidebottom & De Goey are stars of the sport and Elliott is a gun forward in big games

We'll need to prepare well for a full strength Pies team (down the track)

We did pretty well today I thought, don't chase the perfect game at this point. We passed our test, the season is alive. Have a good week Demonland!

Great call by the fitness team to manage Hibbo last week.  Thought he was great today and keeping his body fresh for the big games and finals will be important to our success in September.  Don't really have a replacement for him at this stage, he's just a pig dog beast.

Not wanting to take the polish off but Kozzy is really going through arguably career worst from. He is lost at sea and Goody really needs to sort it out.  Not sure whether it’s droppable territory yet, but he is not performing to anywhere close to his best. Two very gettable set shots are telling he is down on confidence otherwise he is one of the more reliable set shots.

Every player has em but he has been off since he got suspended and nothing to indicate he is shaking it off.

Sidebottom and particularly Pendelbry have age against them these days and I'd expect them to become more fragile as time goes on.

Elliott has always been injury prone, so I don't know if Collingwood can really count on him being there in their best 22.

De Goey was cancelled by Oliver.

I kind of feel like when you've been that inaccurate in front of goal and you mange to pull out the win, especially against a side like Collingwood who make their living out of capitalising on inaccurate performances, you deserve a lot of credit.

GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie
