You canโ€™t lose clearances 0-10 against a very good midfield and then pile it on the defenders. Itโ€™s like shooting Bambi.ย

Agree. We have been down in clearances for weeks.

ย

As a team we are lazy - sit back and donโ€™t get in to compete when the opposition serves it up, quick to run forward for the easy receive and possession, repeat of last half of 2022, just donโ€™t want to do the work at the contest when it really counts

Our wings have been ineffectual for a few weeks now, we need to change the formula up a bit.

Goodwin no comprende

I reckon they think we are soft even alir is trying to get into friter ,tmc should get up his skirt. But we do look soft

Tmac had 2 possies in his last game and ZERO tackles.

How he got picked on that effort I'll never know.

On track for another stinker. Poor Bbb.

Brayshaw getting shown up big time for fitness in the midfield. Blowing fairly hard and struggling to keep up with Butters. Much easier to get cheap kicks off half back.

it's actually hurting my eyes trying to watch Tom McDonald football.

Love Max, but gee heโ€™s soft when targeted, doesnโ€™t throw his weight around and cause fear,

Are you joking?

Heโ€™s the greatest ruckmen in the game, and is as hard as nails.ย

You should be ashamed of saying this.

ย

Maybe throw Rivers into the center for a bit...

Max needs to show some leadership. Getting some treatment, but needs to work his way through itย

Yep instead of throwing his hands up in the air, needs to show some leadership, like he usually doesย

Definitely but it's fair to say they haven't been good either. The SPP over the shoulder goal should have been killed.

May has had a terrible year but would be our best today.ย

We are indeed a very soft side. Donโ€™t have a shred of nastiness in us.

And boy is it showing.ย

I'm sorry, soft?

Bring the heat after the break and we win this one.

Need to re-set the setup at the coal face

Agreed but can't see it. Statistically, Port put foot to throat and it's game over. Willing to bet they kick the first goal of the half within a minute.

I donโ€™t think itโ€™s Yze.ย Trac towelled up by Rowell, now JHF is doing a number on him. His got to get off his high horse and put in the defensive effort.ย

Our whole midfield have no defensive accountability- they play dumb and selfish all sitting off forward side of the contest waiting for the cheapy.

I said this game will tell us a lot and it is damning. And can we maybe do something about groundballs?ย

How is this not on Yze? He's legitimately the midfield coach lol.ย

Our midfield set up and connection between ruck and mids is absolutely appalling and has been for weeks.

Greg Stafford copped it last year for our poor forward entries and set up and it's now about time Yze starts copping some heat.

ย

I'd like to see JVR throw his body into the contest instead of running under the ball and becoming a witches hat. Crash the pack, hit a Port player fairly but hard, have an influence on the contest and the game. If he can crash a few Port players off their feet, it suddenly becomes easier for our crumbers to gather the ball and move on.

Get involved, ffs!

FIRE UP BOYS LETS KNOCK OVER THESE TEAL [censored]

IMย  sorry but the Captain and vice captain both need to show some example/ leadership fgs and actually get their hands on the pill.

Every weakness we have (and they are significant) is being exposed. 1. Our inability to hold the ball in attackโ€ฆ..Port are simply easing themselves out of our attacking 50. 2. Our inability to prevent fast ball movement through the middle and across angles. 3. Our own inability to move the ball with any degree of innovation out of defence = theyโ€™re just waiting create a ground ball and pushing easily back inside 50. 4. And this might be the worst, an inability to match the best sides for pressure and contested ball when they bring that game to us. Weโ€™re being out-worked, out-run, out-contested, out-tackled, basically out-played by every measure that counts. At the risk of going early, cos somehow weโ€™re still in this game, weโ€™re not legitimate flag contenders.ย

Im in your camp - there is nothing about this team and the way it is playing that tells me we are genuine chance this year.ย

I hate knocking my own team - it infuriates ย me - but we just donโ€™t look hungry enough anymore. itโ€™s that or we no longer have what it takes to win.ย

Put Gawn at FF. Grundy to ruck. Gawn is totally ineffective and being targeted.ย
Kosi into the middle. Gus out of the midfield.ย
And for the love of god, get your hands on the footy Trac and Oliver.ย

No no no.ย  Alllir murders him

ย

A lot of players need to get angry and get their hands on the ball. Have some impact and pride in performanceย

Of course but those types of goals happen.

I am far more worried about our midfield not touching the football. Youโ€™re leaving the poor defense so exposed.ย

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecastโ€”20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze โ€” expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kateโ€™s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwoodโ€™s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isnโ€™t a standard conceptโ€”itโ€™s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasnโ€™t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's ย six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his teamโ€™s unfulfilled potential rang true โ€ฆ well, almost.ย
