Think they were happy to get the cash off our books.... maybe loading up for something this year or next.

Thinking we are happy to have the cap space at our disposal. $500k (if correct) a lot to have allocated to a VFL player.

But who to use it on..?

Gone. F3rd.

Best of luck James for rest of AFL career.

So traded for a F3. Bulldogs will need to acquire more future picks.

Depending on how his contract was structured, future 3rd could be a good deal.

A future 3rd feels ok. Not amazing, not awful.

We are seriously light on in the midfield with him, Jordon and Dunstan gone. They can’t all be replaced by draftees so we are going to have to find someone.

I’m envisaging in 12 months’ time the media raving about him as a steal, the Bobby Hill of this year’s trade period, miraculously becoming a star and propelling the Dogs back into the top four.

I didn't realise the doggies got GCs future 1st out of their trade for pick 4 yesterday. Future 3rd is probably fair given harmes is on 500k.

Grundy and Harmes alone brings us 1.15 mil in cap savings. Next year we should be making some big plays.

was GC future 3rd???

Thanks for bringing joy to 1000's of people James. You lived the dream of many supporters.

Good luck to you in your career going forward.

All the best.

Thanks James, an epic contribution to the club captured in one glorious grand final kick. Good luck and we look forward to seeing you back cheering on the Dees in due course. A heart that beats true.

The club told him that he's free to find a new home, so his trade value is nominal. Future 3rd seems about right.

thats how you get a deal done. I know they probably have been speaking before today, and we are happy to let Harmes go, but trade request goes in, a couple hours later deal is done.

Thanks James

I will never forget the clearance in the GF and subsequent pass to Fritta that started our charge to Grand Final Victory

One of my favorites - sad to see you go but wish you success. (Unless its vs us of course)

No it's tied to the bulldogs.

Under current rules, if you trade out a future 1st you can't trade out a future 2nd or 3rd unless you've replaced those picks.

Doggies got GCs future 1st from their trade yesterday so were allowed to trade their future 3rd without issue.

I missed that part of the deal.

So doggies got pick 4 and gcs future 1st for 10, 17 and doggies future 1st.

Doggies are doing well.

Harmesy WE LOVE YOU

you started the 21GF avalanche with the iconic pass to Fritta

🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆21GF

A Dees supporter who got to live out our dreams.

152 games in the red and blue.

See you later.
Always always welcome back !

Not at his best the last couple of years, but we'll always have Harmes to Fritta.

Always.

With a bit of a refresh/more game time, hopefully he can get back to his best footy. Will be great to see him do well, aside from against us obviously.

Although I don't mind if he keeps up those direct i50 passes to Fritta.

Just a note that the Suns traded their future third round pick to the Dogs, not their first

Otherwise the Dogs would have done ridiculously well 😅

This is my gut feel too. To let him go for so little seems weird.

On the other hand, he's given us great service for many years and I applaud the club for not standing in his way and just getting it done for his sake.

All the very best Harmsey. You started a chain of events that brought limitless joy to thousands of Melbourne fans and you will always be a Premiership hero!

Fourth player since the 2021 Grand Final to swap between Melbourne and the Western Bulldogs.

I still think he had a place in a run-with role while the likes of Noah Anderson and Butters tear us to shreds.

Don’t blame him for leaving, will always be a Melbourne player and played a key role in the premiership.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.

The Demons return to the scene of the crime on Saturday to face the wooden spooners the Eagles at the Docklands. Who comes in and who goes out? Like moving deck chairs on the Titanic.

It's Game Day and there are only 5 games to go. Can the Demons find some consistency and form as they stagger towards the finish line of another uninspiring season?
