Also well done on Angus on his 150th

… and on his and Danielle’s engagement early this week!!!

Might not be noticeable from the stands, but on tonight’s banner, along with the huge Gussy graphic, we’ve included a little nod to their engagement…

Huge rock, right there. Easily Gussy’s salary for a year. 😂

Edit: not sure what happened to my pic, it seems to have disappeared. I’ll try again. Anyways, we’ve included an engagement ring on tonight’s banner.

I'm surprised there's not more mention of the 5 day break. It's a huge factor. Clarkson can easily get them playing a really defensive style that keeps them in it until 3 qt. I'm thinking an ugly, tense 25 pt win.

but it is time this club became ruthless

It has been MIA basically since we held the cup aloft. We need to bring that aggression and attitude back for us to really click into gear.

Although we did have a blast during the outage. 🥳

5-day breaks are gonna happen. I’m just happy it’s not the likes of Collingwood we’re up against tonight.

If it’s any consolation the two teams (Dogs and Crows) that have a played on a 5-day break so far have both won. It is what it is unfortunately, will happen to every team.

Scrap that, Saints lost last night after 5 days. Carry on.

Thinking a 4-8 goal win but we must control the game

Gotta crack the 120 point mark.

Should be a 7-8 goal win and needs to be. Percentage is important to cash in on these lowly clubs. We have a run where we can really do it some favours. I watched North last week and they were pathetic, they'll either come out firing or continue their poor form.

I'll settle for a 15 goal win tonight.

JVR to kick his first bag and take another contender.

first half will be a slog and not good to watch as they flood back and put some pressure on.

then we’ll smash them in the 2nd half

55pt win

That's interesting. I checked those results and they were both playing sides that had a six day break like we are tonight. I always thought that once you get have a 5 day break if the other team has a longer break you are in big trouble. But those results show otherwise - thank you. I'll revise my prediction up to a 45 point win 😂

Key to these games are to break them early 1st quarter always important.

Against the lesser likes its crucial in breaking their collective spirit.

Conversely the trick to beating us is the same..  apply buckets of pressure and throw everything and the sink at us.

Tbh.. it works... ( more often than not...these days )

Agree. Hit them hard early and dampen any spirit they might have had. We’ve started poor recently, so hopefully it has been a focal point at training. Then come out after 1/4 time and smash them again.

Frees last night 28-14 in favour of Saints.

Obviously the winner was second to the ball all night.

The early bird catches the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.

I remember the match v Norf last year. I watched it at the Coogee Bay Hotel with my Sydney residing daughter, her then boyfriend and his father.

We were down at half time ... Norf were really aggressive, and poor Lingers copped injured ribs courtesy of that charming man Taryn Thomas. (I spoke to him at Family Day ... he told me it was actually 4 broken ribs .) He was never the same after that.

Hopefully those horrible Norf players won't be so mean this time.

Perfect footy weather. Rug up. No excuses.
If we lose I’m going to lose my mind.

Yeah, they went after us physically in that game for sure. I’m hoping it’s not the same this year. We limped home after that.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
